Step and hard wood floors?

Do any of you step on hard wood floors? We have a smelly, cat abused carpet in the family room where I work out and DH thinks if we replace it with hard wood floors, it will solve the cat pee problem. No one pees on the hardwood floors we have in the livingroom or bedroom. I'm not sure how a step will work on hardwood flooring. Will it slide around? Will it marr the floor? DH keeps saying "What is a gym floor made of?" Any opinions or experience?

Hey ..

we had wood flooring put in last year .. they will scratch .. especially if you get the high gloss ones .. we got the commercial grade which helps (have my 2 huge babies inside).. I LOVE THEM ..

When I step at home ... I put a yoga mat underneath the step .. this keeps it from sliding and scratching my floors!!

I do. I used to have the Reebok step but it didn't have any rubber grips on the bottom so was very unstable. But I got the original club step (which I believe Cathe is now selling on her website) & I have no problems at all.

Thanks ladies. I have the original club step. I think I may just try it out in the livingroom and see what happens.
