I add a little maple syrup and van soymilk. You can also skip the cooking process if you soak overnight in soymilk in the fridge. Nice if you don't want to cook and don't mind cold cereal.
Just add whatever you would choose to add to any oatmeal.

Check out this link with steel cut oat ideas.
There are a lot of good ideas. I have done them in the crock pot ..and the overnight method to cut cooking time.
My favorite recipe is a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of brown sugar. In fact, I just got done eating it for breakfast. I don't pre-cook the oats, so it takes about 20 minutes before they're done.
I just bought my first steel-cut oats and loved them. Following some previous posts I used a little cinnamon and a touch of honey. But this has me thinking, wouldn't it be good to cut some apple and let it cook with the oats?:9
Hi I just bought steel cut oats (Quaker) for the first time today. I think I will have to buy more just to try all the suggestions. Is there a brand that is better for you? Thanks
I liked sliced banana, natural pb and a bit of soy milk, or sliced banana, cinnamon and soy milk. Or chopped apple, cinnamon and a bit of soy milk. Or raisins, cinnamon, soy milk.
Love, love love steel cut oats. In fact I silently laugh to myself when I see people sucking down the sugar laden, over processed instant oatmeal mush and think they're eating "good".
I have my oats every morning as meal #2 of 5, with 1/2 egg yoke + 4 egg whites scrambled and mixed in with the oats after a sprinkle of Splenda and Sugar Free maple syrup.
Steel cut oats are less processed than old fashioned oatmeal. Oat groats are the least processed form of oats. Steel cut oats are groats cut into two or three pieces. Old fashioned oatmeal is the groat, steamed, and then rolled flat.
I get my oats already cooked and frozen from Trader Joe's it only takes 4 minutes to prepare and they taste very good. I add 1 Splenda and frozen blueberries and strawberries.
Oh my!!!!!!!! LOL. I certainly didn't expect this many variations on OATS! But, I'm glad I asked. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'll be making some for my breakfast tomorrow.
