staying at the goal

Dear Cathe,

I want to know how I can maintain my goal weight. I feel like right after I get there, I slack off and fall right back to where I was. What is it in my head that makes me screw up every time?

My thoughts

Dear Cathe,

I'm certainly not Cathe, but have been successful at staying at a goal weight for several year. You CAN'T let yourself go back to your old habits or you'll gain all the weight back. Reminds me of a Dr. Oz show last week when a lady who had lost weight said, "When I lose 10 lbs., I celebrate by eating. It's a vicious cyle." Well, yeah! Maybe you should consider joining Weight Watchers - they teach you to take it off & keep it off with a plan you can live with long-term. That's the secret - find a plan you can stick with.

Healthy Lifestyle!

I've maintained my weight for a number of years. I do so by living a healthy lifestyle. I hate the word diet! I eat what I want in moderation and exercise 5-6 days a week. I also expect that my weight may flux 5 +/- pounds depending on what I'm doing. But when it starts to creep up, that is my signal to tighten up on the eating habits.

Good luck in maintaining your goal weight!

Accountability

My #1 fear - getting on the scale. But it's the only way to hold yourself accountable. It's the one thing that won't lie, too. I'm living proof. This is my second go 'round on Jenny Craig, I've learned so much along the way, but mainly ACCOUNTABILITY. I will be a member for a long, long time because every time I go, I will be held accountable by the scale.

I'm near my goal weight, but to be honest, I lie to myself, I justify, explain and reason and I can't do that.
