Stationary Bike and hips

Since I can not do any impact yet, I am into my third week rotation with 30 min on that bike(which I hate, Cathes workouts are much more fun) and then doing CTX upper body. I think my hips are getting toned. I thought with all the sitting only my quads would get the benefits. Is this wishful thinking on my hips or will the bike tone that? It might make it easier doing it if I see results. Maybe its the increase in cardio? My glutes just seem to get tired of sitting and its a long 30 min. Thanks

Hi Maureen! Your hips are absolutely working while cycling. I don't know what type of biking you are doing right now but if you can put tension on the bike and ride in a standing position (as if climbing a hill)you will really work those hips. Be sure to use a variety of cycling techniques vs. only hill climbing to cross train your muscles. Have Fun!

Hi Maureen,

I got stuck having to do stationary bike for a couple months while my knees recovered and I still stick it in once a week for cross-training. One of the ways I make the time pass is by putting on Imax while I'm biking--I love the music and during the intervals I turn up the speed and pedal for all I'm worth. It's a great workout! --Karen

I just tried IMAX and the bike. Wow, that was awesome. I got a much better workout, rode an extra two miles and had alot more fun. I felt like I use to when I did Cathe tapes. Thanks again.

Hi Maureen,

Terrific! I'm so glad you liked it. Just a reminder though, I'm pretty sure that even us Imax bikers should probably not go over twice a week with the intervals. I'll be thinking of you this week during my Imax ride. --Karen
