Starting over

I have almost all of Cathe's workouts but took a few months off due to life problems. I am sooooo ready to start again but don't know how to ease back into it. I don't want to overdo and get hurt. What workouts, for how long and how often a week? ANY imput would be greatly appreciated. FYI I haven't been a total couch potato just haven't done any true exercise. Thanks
ellie:)

Hi Ellie! I'm just getting back from taking a month off. I am starting out by just doing 30 minutes a day for a couple of weeks. I am just alternating 30 minutes of low intensity cardio with 30 minutes of either lower body or upper body.

For example, this is what I did this week:

Monday: LIS - step only
Tuesday: Legs only from 4DS kickbox
Wednesday: PUB (up only)
Today: LowMax - 1st half only

HTH..

I just had to take some time off due to illness - and am still not really fully recoved, so am trying to get back into it but take it easy.

I found it helpful to look at the Cathe catalog and make a list of the workouts I have that are either beginning or intermediate level. I am only using those at the moment after finding out pretty quickly I can't deal with the advanced at this particular time.

Here's the list:

beginner
========
Basic Step

beginner/intermediate
=====================
Body Fusion
Upper Body Sculpt
Lower Body Sculpt
Stability Ball Abs
High Step Circuit
Low Impact Step
Total Body Sculpting

intermediate/advanced
=====================
Low Impact Circuit
Low Max
Stretch Max

Hope this helps,

Hi Ellie. I didn't work out at all for 2 years. I had a baby last June and in November I decided to get back to work with Cathe. I just jumped right in. I think I did Butts and Guts my first time back which was a killer. I just took breaks when I had to but made myself leave the workout playing until it was over so I kept trying. I made it through 90% of the workout. That's what I've been doing and I'm suprised at how quickly I'm getting back into shape. I did IMAX 2 today and I think I got through that better than ever before.

Ellie, I have been an on and off exerciser for 20 years. When I'm ready to get back into it, I have found that just doing whatever I feel like doing works and my body will always tells me if I need to go easier or harder. Your body is the best guide. We're all different and you know yourself best. Have fun!

Do you have Cross Train Express? I used that series to get back on track . If I couldn't keep up with the cardio, I just took breaks as needed. Same for the weight work. Even though it's 6 days a week, I think it's a good one to get back into the groove.

The Timesaver DVD from the Body Blast series would be good, too. I don't have that one, but it's only 5 work outs per week, so it might be even better than CTX.

Just my $.02. Good luck on your journey back to fitness!
