starting out

hi Cathe, I am new to your site. I was introduced to your one of your videos about 4 years ago (strong legs). I used to be a fan of the firm and someone told me to try cathe and she gave me this video. I have never worked so hard and had such good results from a workout. Anyway I have not done any workout videos since then. I would like to know what video you would reccomend for upper body workout and also something that would give me fast results in a short period of time. I do currently workout 4-5 days a week, but mostly cardio. I really need to lose 10 lbs by end of august and tone up. I know that your videos are the only ones that can help me achieve this. I will also start to do the lower body video that I have along with what ever you reccomend. I also see that your videos don't say what weights I would need to purchase along with the video.

3-5-8-10???

These indicate the dumbbell weights Anne is suggesting. I also think that 5-8-10 and maybe even 12 are a good start.

No need to feel stupid at all....we ALL have questions from time-to-time. NO question is ever stupid. :) BTW, I think PUB (Pyramid Upper Body) is a great UB workout. As is Gym Styles (there are 2 UB workouts in this series) You can't go wrong with any Cathe workout but two of my favs are the 2 sets I mentioned. Good Luck and let us know if you have any more questions. Welcome !!! Also, bop over to the "Open Discussion Forum". There are many there to answer questions if Cathe is busy.

Oh, don't feel stupid at ALL here, ever!! At Cathe's place there's no such thing as a dumb question. We all throw around abbreviations and acronyms and insider lingo all the time -- just ask and you'll be given all secret passwords!! ;-)

Just wanted to say I agree with Debbie that a couple of 12's will be a good "top end" for your starter dumbbell set, although for a while you'll probably use them only for legs and maybe back -- big muscle groups.

Also, in terms of videos, I think you'd HUGELY enjoy having Cross Train Xpress. This 2-DVD set is, IMHO, Cathe's all-time masterpiece, because it's a full week of total body strength, abs and cardio training. You get 5 assorted cardios of about 30 minutes each (kickbox, hi/lo, and step), plus a whole hour of Leaner Legs (ouch! ;-)), a great set of 10-to-15 minute upper body workouts that you can mix and match or do as a full one-hour "Upper Body Split" (and that's already compiled for you on the DVDs), AND several good abs segments that are also conveniently compiled for you. And the music is awesome.

Have fun and keep us posted on how you're doing!
