Starbuck's Coffee

Call me weird but in general I don't care for coffee. However, I love Starbuck's white chocolate mocha. Does anyone know how Starbuck's makes this coffee? I would love to be able to make a healthier/lower calorie version. Thanks!

I would guess they use a white chocolate syrup, possibly Torani syrup. Cost Llus carries suger free Torani syrup as well as the regular syrups. It is made with Splenda. I don't use artificial sweeteners often but occsionally indulge in one of these because they don't have a strong aftertaste and it's less expensive than going to Starbucks. I know that Starbucks uses both caramel and vanilla in their wonderful caramel macchiato. I order mine fat free and suger free which means they use suger free vanilla with the regular caramel syrup and skim milk. Their espresso is very strong and that is key to getting these coffees to taste so delicious. Did you know fat free milk froths better than milk with fat in it? The way they froth the milk is important too. I am now craving a caramel macchiato! :)

Thanks Bobbi and Shelley! I was so hoping someone would have the answer. Caramel Macchiato sounds really delicious.

Get ready for my stupid question, do you have to own an expresso machine to make expresso or can you buy it at the store? I told you it was a stupid question. I don't know the first thing about coffee.

Yes, you have to own an espresso maker to make espresso:) You can buy a reasonably priced stovetop one that will do as good a job (if not better)than a fancy, high-priced machine. You buy espresso beans to make espresso coffee. They're roasted differently to make a much stronger brew.

For someone who doesn't drink coffee, I'm strangely knowledgeable:p

My husband has a Krups espresso maker he likes. I had a De Longhi which worked very well as well. They have a pump and make a cool sound when they are espresso making. The steamer I am not so impressed with though. I did get a caramel macchiato. It was yummy. =)

You people aren't drinking coffee. Coffee has coffee in it, not white chocolate or caramel. LOL

I drink expresso and coffee black and admit that coffee can be harsh on the taste buds but calling these drinks coffee is really making the truth.

Dave, you are so funny! I call them my foo-foo coffee drinks and LOVE THEM!:p

My new foo-foo "coffee" drink of the moment is the Cinnamon Dolce Latte at Starbucks. Total Yumiliciousness!!:9

LOL @ Rogue. You little foo-foo you ;) I admit I'm not a Starbucks fan. Too harsh of a taste. Every once in a while I do like a foo-foo, too...ahem, pumpkin spice late, ahem. Damn you Rogue!

That's the beauty of Starabucks foo-foo drinks. You can taste the coffee because the coffee wacks a wallop. A Venti has three shots of expresso! My morning coffee, good old Colombian, I drink with a dollop of half and half or milk. But at Starbucks, who can resist caramel and vanilla syrup and the caramel sauce. I always manage to get sticky. It's like being a child again, really. ;)
