Stairmaster ideas? Or other non impact cardio ???

I've had achilles tendonitis for about 6 weeks now. For the past 5 weeks, I've limited my cardio to the stairmaster to help the inury repair. BUT, I am SO BORED of the stairmaster. I don't have a gym membership, so I am limited to what is at home (stairmaster, step, weights and Cathe DVD's). Does anyone have any suggestions for how to spice up the stairmaster (besides doing it naked)? Or ideas of some non impact cardio ????

Thanks for any ideas!

Lauren

Lauren.....sorry about the achilles tendonitis...that seems to be my injury of choice!! When mine flares up I can usually do my Nordic track without pain. Do you have any kickboxing workouts? Taebo is fairly non-impact. Or you could just modify the ones you have. You could try some intervals on the stairmaster (not naked..:) ) ...warm up about 10 minutes then push hard for 90 seconds and then recover for 3 minutes just stepping normally. Just repeat that cycle as many times as you want...or can...hope this helps some...:)...Carole

As Carole, said intervals are great on the stairmaster, if you have a walking tape or even a walking routine just modify it for the stair master. Or you could even use one of Cathe's step tapes, and go with steping with her, that should get your heart rate up. It will be up to you to replaces some moves with making the stairclimber harder or do it double time. At least you get to see Cathe and that could spice up the routine a bit.

Errghh...my achilles tendonitis has flared up recently too. Nice big nodules on the backs of my ankles!

I've been using my elliptical trainer at home, which has worked well and not so boring in front of the TV.

Last night I did Low Max and as long as I stretched the tendons throughout the workout, I did not experience pain/irritation.

Hope that helps!
