stability ball ?

I have a question, my stability ball is suppose to be 55 cm, I measured it using a tape measure making a mark on the wall at 55cm, then I put the inflated ball against the wall where the mark was, it only measured 45 cm, did I measure this the right way ? It sure doesn't look the size that Cathe and the crew uses.
This is my first stability ball, and also once I got it inflated, I couldn't figure out how to keep it that way, when I took out the plastic stem I used to air it up, the air started coming out. What was I doing wrong there ? ... Thanks for your help .. Rhonda :7

ps... I ordered from power-systems, wanted a good ball.

Does anyone know if I measured this ball the right way, someone said you put 80% of the air in and wait 24 hrs and put more air in then let that settle. Gee I didn't know it was going to take that long to get it aired up to use it. Right now I am just concerned that its the right size, want to make sure I measured it right. Plus that no plug. thanks Rhonda

I think that is the right way to measure. At least, that is how the directions for my stability ball said to do it. It took me forever to bump up mine with the hand pump. I just got a resist-a-ball that is 65cm, but I only pumped it up to 55cm. I can't imagine that it could go 4 more inches, to 65cm. But I guess they can be pumped up further than you would think. It is much bigger and firmer than the 55cm purple Wal-mart ball I have. It sounds like you might be missing the plug for yours.

Sunnyside, I think your right, they didn't send a plug for mine, but I still am not sure about the size, since when it was what I thought was full of air, only measured 45 cm, but I'll soon find out. Thanks Rhonda
