Stability Ball

Question for those who have some knowledge of the stabilty ball - I purchased a ball for people 5' - 5'5" and it seems significantly smaller than the one Cathe is using. Should I have gotten the bigger ball? This has been bugging me - I am 5'1" and I think I have read here that Cathe is about 5'2"....

Thanks in advance for any input!:)

Hello laventi! I just wanted to tell you that I bought the smaller ball too. I am just shy of 5'4", so I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering the smaller one. I am able to use the one I have except in PUB. In that one I need a bigger ball to do some of the exercises. I have been of NO help, but I wanted to let you know that I feel a bit discouraged about the size stability ball I purchased as well.

Have a great day,
Teresa

Hi Laventi! I don't have any problems w/my small stability ball. I'm able to do all of the exercises even the pikes in PUB. Just make sure to inflate it all the way. Enjoy! Kathy;)

I was curious about this, too. I thought they were using the 55cm stability balls in the workouts and that's what I bought, but mine sure seems smaller. Maybe my hubby didn't get it blown up as much as he could have or maybe some balls have more "give" to them than others. Mine is the transluscent purple one from Living Arts. Perhaps the opaque balls are firmer?

Funny I was thinking the same thing - my ball seems smaller than the one they are using.

How does one tell that they have it blown up enough, without having it exlode on you?

:)

Actually, since Cathe doesn't use the ball for sitting on very much, I don't think the size of the ball matters that much for these exercises. If you have a 55cm ball, it should be fine, since this is the ball that is recommended for your height. I use a 55 cm ball and I'm 5'5 and I've had no problems with it seeming too small.

Thanks everyone! I am glad to see I'm not alone! Actually, I used an electric pump and did get it blown up a bit larger, which helped alot...I still wish it was little larger, but definitely sticking with what I have for now. I do think that the planks/lifting one leg and the pikes would be a little "easier" (not easy, but easier!) with a larger ball, since you have a little more surface area to balance on. This is my first try with the stability ball though, and I really like it. Cathe has expanded my horizons once again!!!

Take care, Lynn.
