Squeak squeak! (totally silly question)

atgood

I’ve only done PLB a few of times, but I get a very loud squeaking during the floorwork using the stability ball, as the rubber of my sneakers rubs back and forth against the ball. This happens particularly during the froggy-leg move. It’s loud enough to wake up the whole household--not a good thing during early morning workouts! My four little dogs came rushing in last time I did this, probably thinking I was doing battle with a giant mouse or something.;) I tried taking off my shoes but to me this made the moves seem even less stable.

Any suggestions from Cathe and/or the educated crowd?? I wondered if this was an issue at all during the filming of the video? Or maybe it’s just me....

Anyway, this is a very minor thing, and it’s actually pretty funny when it happens. I always start giggling--which of course tightens the entire core section even further. So maybe this is a good thing! :D

Lol!!

Oh my gosh! My laugh for the day! Tthat was too funy about your dogs running in to see the "mouse"! I can just picture thier little heads cocked looking in at you! How about trying a lil' powder on the ball? Maybe, it would "silken" it a bit to keep from sqeaking. You can't have sqeaking balls!! Good Luck!

RE: Rolling on the floor Lol!!

Atgood! Oh, how funny! I could just see your little dogs! I'm still laughing at the thought of it all!

I have to say that this has not happened to me. I bought a Gaiam ball at the grocery store for $21. and I can attest to its squeaklessness!
Maybe you should try a different pair of sneakers for this part of the workout.

Me again!

I came back to edit all my spelling errors but my time to edit has expired!!! Also, the more I think about powder Atgood, it might NOT be a good idea if it makes the ball MORE slippery. It's hard enough staying on it without it being more smooth. Good Luck! Barbie's idea to try another pair of shoes just might work. STILL would LOVE to see those dogs faces!! :7

What an hysterical visual! Is it that rubbing-a-balloon noise? It must be the material your ball is made from. I have five dogs and find that my ball is a great dog hair collector. If I don't clean the hair off thoroughly before LBP floorwork it skids away from me because of the layer of fur it's collected.

Glad to provide a laugh, ladies! ;)

Ann--yes, it is definitely a rubber-on-rubber issue. I figure I will play around with the level of inflation in the ball. I have a Thera-Band 55 cm ball, so I think the overall quality is pretty good. And maybe I'll try different sneakers.

Of course, I'm not sure when I will do the workout again because my calves were so INCREDIBLY sore after the last time. My DH was laughing at me because I was walking like the Mammy Yoakim (sp?) character from L'il Abner. I couldn't straighten my legs all the way for two days!!

My stability ball began squeeking for the first time the second time I did PLB. It was a "plastic ball meets wooden floor" squeek. Which is not as disturbing to me as the "sweaty back meets plastic mat fart" noise.:+
