Cathlete
hi there

i dont know why but i have pain in my knees a little bit above them when i do the squads.i try not to go down 90 degree as cathe says but still.last week i was on vication all week and on sunday i did cardio&weights the only thing my body remembered was the pain in the muscle above the knee. i hope i explain myself well, did it happened to you why is that hoping for replys im worried  should i :-( ?

When you feel pain or discomfort in your knees, first check your form. When you squat down your weight should be at the back of the heels. The same, too, when you stand back to starting position. You should be able to lift your toes if your form is correct.

I agree with Namita. Maybe your form isn't exact. Make sure your knees don't go beyong your toes and that you sit back more rather than lean forward. "Keep the wieght in the back of the heels" as Namita said.

You might be suffering from PatelloFemoral Pain Syndrome. Do a WebMD or google search on this and you will find some info. Might also want to check with a Orthapedic Sur. They can refer you to a PT who can help with this. Don't ignore the pain whatever you do, your knees are way to important. Take it from someone who just had major knee surgery 2.5 months ago. It is not fun.

While I definitely agree with what Marla's Mom says, I think you should try checking your form first. I had knee pain when I first started. I adjusted my form and it went away. Pretend like you're sitting back into a chair. You want your knees over your heels. See if you can check your form in a mirror. If this does not correct the pain, by all means, get it checked out.

Ditto all the form pointers above, and I suggest using no weights, not going as low, and slowing down. Cathe's pacing is a bit on the fast side, IMO, and sometimes even she says to go slower if you need to. :)

thank u all for the help.i try to cut and not to workout 5 days but to pay attantion to my knees if it hurts to take the next day off for rest. i also made an appointent to the doctor but it will be only on the 25 of sept. its a long wait i hope until them the pain will go away.
