Spring/Summer Shoes - Help!!!

Cathlete
Okay, I am NOT a strappy, high heeled, pink sparkly sandal kinda gal. Why can't I find any decent summer shoes? I do so like winter when I can indulge my black tight boot fetish.

Someone help me. Where can I find nice summer shoes that don't have 8 inch pencil thin heels or straps or things that go between my toes? Blargh.

I wish I knew...I'm looking for summer shoes too! Plus, I don't want to spend a lot of money on summer shoes.

Tammy

Do you have a Marshalls by you? I got three pair of sandals from a Marshalls in Boston this past March. None are strappy or super high heeled. They were around $20 each.

How about Birkenstocks? Good for your feet, not strappy, no heels, and come in a variety of styles and colors... :D Obviously, these are for a more casual look... I don't have any suggestions for a dressier look.

I have lots of casual shoes, actually. I was really kinda looking for something more for work. But not working as a cocktail waitress, I'm having difficulty finding something suitable.

Oh I'm just the opposite--I love my summer sandals w/my toes peeking out. :)

I get a lot of shoes from Nordstrom.com. Also Zappos.com--they have an enormous selection & a good search mechanism.

Oh, I don't mind summer sandals with toes peeking out. Just not with super high skinny heels and one teeny strap.

Definitely check out those two sites. They have a huge selection & I bet you find something you like.

Shelley you've hit on my #1 shopping weakness. I have a serious shoe problem LOL. You just let me know if you need help making a choice. ;-)

Shelley, do you have a Macy's near you? They always have fabulous shoes at a variety of price ranges.

I have no clue. I am a gal who wears my Tevas with everything for the entire summer. I also have never met anyone who hates anything between the toes as much as I do! I feel so connected now:)

Shelley, Try famous footwear or even payless shoes. They have cute sandals that don't like like you sell your body for a living! Not sure if they have those stores in canada though. They are not expensive either. Another place is mervyn's.

Terri

Another vote for Payless on the low end, and Nordstrom on the high end!

I just love shoes!!!:7 :7 :7

Go to dansko.com and then zappos.com and check out the wide variety of dansko sandals. They are fabulous, completely comfortable, no spike heels in sight, but they are far more feminine than Birkenstocks.

Try looking at the Dansko Arabella sandal. Beautiful. I have it in pink, red and wheat and never wear anything else. You can get them cheaper on ebay. I have bought three pairs for about $5o each, a deep discount.

Or you might like the Lara or Ashley. They are now being made in fab colours such as pink, lilac, green, etc.

OOOOooo! Clare, those Dansko shoes look fabulous! :) My local Hush Puppies store carries them, so I'm going to have to check them out! :D

Those ARE really nice Clare. Thanks for the tip!

I did actually see some really nice Rockport sandals at lunchtime. I didn't buy them, but I'll think about it and maybe go back and get them. I tried them on and they were super comfortable.

Thanks for all the input!

Yes Limecat the "puss in boots" look is mainly for winter. "Puss in birkenstocks" just doesn't have the same ring to it! ;)

I second the Zappos.com and Shoebuy.com. Also Walmart and Target (do you have those up there?) have lower heeled somewhat dressy sandals for really cheap!

I'm totally with you on that Shelley. I can't stand the shoes now. I feel so sorry for the women who wear them while I'm bopping around in my comfy Aerosoles from two years ago. But my shoes are starting to wear, and now even the Aerosoles are too pencil-thin for my taste. What to do????

Clare, great suggestion! The Dankos look perfect for work! But I'm so afraid to buy shoes online. I did it once and needed to return them and never got around to it and then wound up throwing the shoes away. Better get to a store that sells Dankos.

Oooh...Danskos! I have 4 pairs of their clogs! (Two are just so worn out that they're not acceptable to wear to work anymore.) Anyhow, I didn't know they make sandals, but am going to check it out. I have a supposedly comfortable pair of work-appropriate flat sandals (not Danskos) that I bought on sale at the end of last summer, but my legs kill me when I walk in them (and I'm always walking someplace, even at work, so that's important).
