Spinning in the Boonies!

Well, spin classes have finally arrived in the boonies! Our local YMCA has just started a new spin class, and I took it last night. I am ashamed to admit that it absolutely kicked my butt! My husband and I bought a LifeCycle (used from a gym going out of business) about 6 years ago, and even that lifecycle is no comparison to the spin class. I'm sure it will get easier as I go along, but whew! What a workout!!

HA good for you! But I'm here to say if you have a local YMCA... you are not in the boonies :) My closest YMCA or anything else for that matter is 80 miles away... now that's the boonies :)

Ooow~ you might be right about that! 80 miles! Our Y is 15 miles away. We live right in between two small towns. Luckily, there's a college in one of them that is really growing so it's bringing a lot of "stuff" to the town. We've had the Y for about 5 years now and we wouldn't trade it for anything! So many great children programs!

Sarah,

Good for you!! Spinning is a lot of fun!! It is an amazing workout!! People often think that riding a bike is not that hard! HA!! You can burn as many as 745 calories in 45 minutes with a spining class! How big was the puddle of sweat next to your bike when you were done?LOLOL

I taught Spinning classes for several years, and I loved it!! I loved it when someone new would come to my class, and it would totally kick their butt..and the amazed look on their face! They always came back for more and were loving it!!

Yes, it will get easier..I promise!

Your behind will hurt for a while!! Try some Padded bike shorts and a gel seat! makes a big difference!!

Here is a link that has really cute padded bike shorts and bra tops to match!! You will be the envy of all your Spinning buddies

Do they have Clipless pedals available on their bikes!! I always rode clipless, hated those shoe cages..they hurt my feet!

Have fun!!

:) ;-) :D :p :9 :7 :+

Our local Y evidently bought 7 "gently used" bikes off of a gym going out of business in Richmond. There's one that has a gel seat, but I wasn't priviledged enough to get that one! I discovered that I DO need to get on one of them that has a water bottle holder. I SSOOOOO wanted a drink of water during the 45 minutes! It's a learning experience for all of us around here. The instructors are men who just so happen to love cycling, and they really put us through it! I'm very excited about it being offered here though! Thanks for the tips!

Oh yeah, all the pedals have the shoe holsters.
