Spinning has biggest after-burn!

I was reading the July/Aug 11 issue of Fitness magazine and saw this. Here is how all the activities stacked up:

Spinning-45 minute class, 519 calories burned, 190 post workout after-burn

Interval Running-60 minutes, 20, one minute sprints followed by 2 min rests, 515 calories burned, 75 after-burn

Steady Running-30 minutes, 70% effort, 485 calories burned, 35 after-burn

Walking-40 minutes, 369 calories burned, 49 after-burn

Strength Training-50 minutes with 2 minute rests between sets, 161 calories burned, 14 after-burn

Circuit Training-19 minutes, 30 second rests between sets, 109 calories burned, 25 after-burn

Hmm, guess to lose some weight I had better make sure spinning is in my routine! I know for me, when I spin, I am literally DRENCHED in sweat so I know I am burning some serious calories (even when my bodybugg states otherwise)!!

Just wanted to share........I can't wait until I get my hands on Cycle Max!! ;)

Wow, it even beats interval running! Very interesting...I can't wait for Cycle Max!!!! Thanks for sharing Denise!

Love spinning!!!

AND - it's much kinder to the knees than running!!! I found that when I started spinning it increased my stamina for other activities, like step aerobic/boot camp classes.

I just discovered spinning 2 months ago, and I am hooked! I go to class 3x a week- at least.

My heart rate monitor only has me burning 225-295 calories per 45minute class, but I feel as though I burn more- I am a hot sweaty mess at the end of class, and it is so worth it! Like cakebaker, it increases my stamina for other activities too, and I love the lack of impact.

Without buying a spinning cycle, I'm not sure how I could get Cycle Max to work. Would I bring it to my gym with an iPhone and do it from my phone??
