Spin dvd recommendations needed

So I bit the bullet and finally bought myself a spin bike - YAY ME! Now I need some dvd's to use - I'm sure Cycle Max will be awesome but am looking at ordering a few other spin type workouts to justify the $$$ spent on the bike. So..any recommendations for fun workouts with good music that preferably include shorter premixes? (Not Spinervals, they are just not for me.)

Spin Vid Recs

I just got a new spin bike too. I purchased two Mindy Mylrea spin videos - Cycle Strong and Tri-Cycle. Both have pre-mixes with shorter workout options. The music is not the greatest, but there is a music off option, so you could add your own while keeping Mindy's instruction.

I like 'em both, but am really looking forward to Cathe's!

HTH.

Spinning.com has a lot of videos (also available from Amazon) My personal favorite instructor is Josh Taylor, but all of the videos I have from them are good.

I really like Mindy's new Short & Sweet. There are 3 workouts each under 30 minutes, and I absolutely love them. They're great alone, or you can string them together for a longer workout. There is some techno type music that I think is great, but others may not like. I don't believe there is a music off option on that one.

i have this one too & really like it. super challenging & the perfect variety. it's good to mix it up & learn how to push yourself on the bike (think less is more as far as "choreography") and get your mind involved. i hope that makes sense.

here is another possibility that will be different but my teammates love it & I plan on trying it this Winter Cycling training videos - The Sufferfest

Sufferfest?...YIKES!! This is DEFINITELY not for me but thanks anyway! Hope you enjoy it as much as your friends do. Think I'll give Mindy's Short and Sweet a try. All the cycling workouts seem to be sooo loooong - frustrating for someone with exercise ADD. Anyone know if Cathe's newie has a shorter premix?

ETA Forgot to add, I'm a complete newbie to spinning - never even sat on a spin bike before I bought my own. Have had a look at spinning.com - so many workouts there to choose from! Do they have premixes? What's the music like? Which specific ones are good for an advanced exerciser but beginner to spin workouts?

I highly recommend anything with Josh Taylor as the instructor. You can find his DVDs on spinning.com. I've purchased lots of spinning DVDs including Mindy Mlyrea's new ones but I always gravitate back to Josh Taylor's. Very good music and he is very motivating. I've purchased dvd's on spinning.com with other instructors but again, his are the ones I always use.

Oooohhh, Sufferfest

I love these forums because I learn about things like Sufferfest...now that's something I can't wait to try!

Thanks to whoever posted that!

Thanks MaryannF - have had a look and notice Josh Taylor has quite a few dvds - if you could only choose one (or two), which would you recommend? I don't quite understsand how they're all different.

Video clips?

Is there a website to view video clips of Josh Taylor? I viewed Mindy Mylrea's Short & Sweet...I really like the format and the music!

For me, I used icycle workouts which are audio only available from itreads. But what really has worked for me is developing my on playlists. Once you are familiar with the variations in cycling of seated sprints, standing sprints, climbing, low rides, etc. Then it is the music and getting into the music that makes you work.

Josh Taylor DVDs

Currently, I am hooked on Heart Racer. The warm up music is a bit "tribal" so you need to give it 10 minutes if that isn't your thing. This one is all about speed and getting your heart rate up. Great music. I also love Spin & Sculpt. This one is a little shorter at a lower cadence where the goal is to build muscle.

I know everyone's opinion of music is different but I love both of these for that. But most importantly, I can listen to this guy all day long. He interjects motivational stuff that really adds to the workout and never annoys me. I do alot of road biking and this guy is a professional cyclist so maybe that also explains why I like his workouts so much.

Just an FYI. Josh Taylor has blond hair. Spin and Burn mistakenly lists Josh Taylor as the instructor for that one. Not real fond of that instructor.

that would be me! and I should add that these are a whole different kind of format...won't be a lot of instruction as these workouts are geared towards cyclists. so if you are a complete newbie you would be better off with Mindy's or some others that give a lot of instruction on pedalling technique, positioning on the bike, etc. The Sufferfest is kinda cool for those of us who ride outside (and race!) because it has video footage of actual races along w/ some cool music.

OH my Goodness, those sufferfest videos look truly AWESOME! I am a diehard cyclist and avid follower of cycling so I really find the footage to be so inspiring.

Are these videos meant for use with a road bike on a trainer? I've been on the fence about whether to buy a spinning bike or just get a trainer. I like the idea of using a trainer, but I know that Cathe and SNM have said that her video really would be best with a spinning bike...but I am still leaning toward using my beloved bike on a trainer (I do love my bike!) and would love to get some indoor training workouts.
