Speaking of Christmas . . .

Sarah's Christmas Card poll is getting me into the holiday spirit. :) So when do you put up your Christmas tree and what type do you put up (real, artificial)?

We get a real tree and I like to put mine up the weekend after Thanksgiving although my DH argues that is too early. In prior years my DH would just bring home a tree b/c he knows a few people that have tree farms/nurseries, this year I'm hoping to take my 4 year old and let him pick it out.

I've always had a fake tree...would love to get a real one but that will have to wait. If I'm going to go through the trouble of getting a real one, I want a decent size one and we don't have that kind of room in our house. My mom always refused to get real because of the mess they make.:-( Needless to say....I have a 3.5 or 4 ft tall fake tree that I am BAAAD about putting up! LOL The first year in this house I put it up but I'm pretty sure it was not until the middle of December sometime!LOL Last year...who needs a tree? We were harldy going to be home over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I didn't even bother...I know, I'm bad!!! This year will be different though b/c of Joey. He's too young to know the difference but we gotta do it right for his sake anyway. Hopefully I'll get the tree up by the first week of December if not black friday...:+

We've always had a real tree and we put it up around mid December and take it down around New Years Day. I've asked the family to consider a small live tree, but I get out voted each year for the large tree. We host X-mas Eve annually for our family and it it usually around 30+ people. So we decorate, but keep it to a minimum. Christmas Day is more sedate with only Abuelos and our children.

I love the Christmas season! I put mine up right after Thanksgiving. I have a 7 ft artificial tree. The more lights the better so I take forever to get th tree up(all day) and it has to look just the way I want. Once it is up I am happy and singing and in great spirits :)

I hate putting my tree up early and I am usually ready to take it down the day after Christmas:p

I get a real one, not too big, probably about 7 to 8 feet. Sophie and I decorate it together. I always have to tie it up, after the first year when it fell over, smashing some of my grandma's antique glass ornaments. Picture me, standing in my living room, holding up the tree with one hand and calling a friend with the other to come over and help me tie it up:p

My sister has double height ceilings in her living room and her tree is usually about 12 feet tall and has approximately 8 gazillion lights on it. It's beautiful:D

I wonder what Gilbootybear will think of the tree?
We put up a real tree, but usually not until the week before Christmas. DH teaches at a local college and doesn't like to get Christmasy until the semeter is over, which is usually not until a couple days before Christmas! It comes down as close to New Years Day as possible, cause by then I'm sick of watering it.

We have a gorgeous artificial pre-lit tree that we put up right after Thanksgiving, and then we take it down right after xmas. My oldest birthday is Jan 3, and I have always taken pains to make sure xmas is over by then, to separate the occasions.

Christmas is so joyous at our house, we just can't wait to start! I actually have to tell my 8 year old to not sing xmas carols in the summer, I just have to draw the line at that.

I'm hoping he doesn't see it as something to relieve himself on:p

My SO works in retail and is usually so sick of Christmas by the time it actually gets here that he's happy to not have the tree up until about a week before the day:)

I don't have room for a live tree so I put up several tabletop trees. I put a feather tree in my family room that's decorated entirely in felt snowmen and pixies.

I put 3 tabletop trees in my living room. One is an antique German feather tree that's decorated with glass birds, tinsel garland, and one diecut cat ornament. All of the ornaments date from the 1890's to the 1930's. I love it so much that I leave it out all year.

I smiled just thinking about getting and decorating the tree!! We get a live one every year. I have quite a few wooden ornaments that I've collected over the years (lots of wooden Santas:)). We usually rent Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph and the other Christmas classic movies and have them play while we decorate the tree. It's honestly my favorite thing to do. Although, my hubby does let me finish the ornaments since I have so many. I think it gets tedius for him after 300...haha. Great question!!!:)

Last year when Rocky and Apollo were kittens they climbed the tree and would peer out at us. This year they are full grown at 10 and 11.75 pounds. I doubt a utu tree could take their weight together; It should be an interesting holiday season.

We have a 6' lighted artificial Florida PALM tree that we keep up year round. We decorate it about a week before Christmas and take decorations down about a week after.

We're not real big on Christmas...just don't like what it stands for these days. Not a bah humbugger...just a Realist :)

Oh, a live tree - sometimes two. We have room in the house for both. The girls and I will go and pick it out and chop it down right after Thanksgiving, then we bring it home and decorate it. In the mean time, my dh is busy putting lights all over the house (he LOVES the holidays) and is happily humming off-key as he hangs them. It's a really fun time of the year for us. We have a big Christmas Eve party and all of our friends come over. It's just a good time.
