Soybeans ( what can I do)

My mom just gave me seven huge bags of soybeans. I really could use some suggestion on what to do with them. I know you are suppose to soak them but I'm lost from there. I could really use some good recipes for them. I have never eaten them before but would love to try and make them a staple in my diet. Thanks.Karen

I like to steam them and then eat them like that(without the "shell"),sprinkled with a little sea salt.

You can also use them in salads(after steaming), or mixed with other beans.
I'm sure Kathryn will have some suggestions.

Do you mean dried, hard, soybeans? Or edamame (green soy beans that aren't dried).

They are very different. Edamame can be steamed and lightly salted and eaten as-is.

Dried soybeans need to be soaked overnight or for a few hours (and the soaking water discarded to reduce the gas-producing qualities of the bean!) then cooked until soft. The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook has recipes for dried soybeans, including baked beans, soy burgers. Basically you can use them for anything you would use regular cooked beans for (like kidney or black or pinto beans).
