Soy Shake Suggestions?

Hi everyone,

It has been a long time since I've posted here. Glad to see some familiar faces.

I became very ill last year. I've been making a slow but steady recovery. I've been working out again since January. I've been building up s-lo-w-l-y to where I was prior to becoming ill. So far I've lost 20 lbs. that I had gained due to my illness. I'm pretty much back up to speed now, feeling really good and ready to get tough and lose this last 15 lbs.

I used to drink Met-Rx chocolate shakes for my afternoon snack. One of the things that I've found out this past year is that I am very allergic to wheat. So, that rules out Met-Rx shakes for me (whey protein is one of the top ingredients). I am also allergic to eggs (another popular shake ingredient). So...I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for soy shakes that taste good.

thanks in advance-
Pam

Now that I think about it, I think you are right about whey protein being derived from milk. For some reason, I recall it being on the list of food ingredients to avoid that my Dr. gave me (but I'm not allergic to milk though). I'll have to look into that...

LAST EDITED ON May-27-02 AT 10:52AM (Est)[p]Genisoy Natural Chocolate shake. Absolutely delicious. I don't know how you managed to choke down those Met-RX ones. They taste like toxic waste to me.

The Genisoy ones are everywhere. I get mine at Whole Foods or even at Krogers if it's on sale there.

Throw in a frozen banana or some frozen raspberries if you want to be really sinful.

I like Spirutein and Peaceful Planet powdered soy protein mixes. Spirutein has about a dozen different flavors to choose from (orange-banana, strawberry, cherries jubilee, chocolate, vanilla..) and many of them come in single serving pouches so you can try them out before you commit to a whole large container. In addition to mixing them with soy or rice milk, I like to mix vanilla with orange juice to make a "dreamsicle" shake.
