Soup and Tuna - not clean eating?

Winter

Hi Ladies,

I think soup and tuna in a pouch are not clean eating. I eat both of these regularly. Will this hinder my weight loss as it is not clean eating. I will eat a can of soup - usually chunky soup with 220-400 calories and lots of sodium. I drink lots of water.

Can processed foods really hinder your weight loss if it is calories that really count?

Thanks for your opinions in advance!

Hi, Winter -
I'm relatively new to the clean eating concept so I'm not an expert. But I have always tended to avoid canned and processed meals, just because there always seem to be so many additives in them.

I do know that foods high in sodium can make your body retain water, which of course will add weight. Also, in my personal opinion and experience, the foods that are typically described as clean - that is, closest to their natural form - generally are more nutritious.

Also, it's not necessarily just calories that determine weight loss or gain, but the type of calories. Do they come mostly from fat, carbs, or protein? Become a label reader to make sure you get the most benefits from the calories you eat.

One of the tenets of clean eating is avoiding any processed foods, not only for the compensated nutritional value, but also because of the fact that when your body digests food in it's most natural form, youe metabolism gets jacked up, complimenting energy expenditure, ie fat loss.
