Sore from Kick Max?

Hey All,

Well, I did Kick Max for the first time on Monday, and I am STILL recovering from DOMS in my lats and butt. Whew! I did not expect to be this sore. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same? What a fun and challenging workout!!

Amy:eek:

Hi Amy,

I had some DOMS in my butt and outer thighs the day after I did KickMax, but it wasn't too bad. Maybe the fact that I had an appointment with my chiropractor that next day helped, because he really stretched out my quads.

I felt it more in my lats than my butt. I thought I'd be very sore from the leg conditioning drills because my outer thighs were screaming at the end of the first one, but next day's soreness was mild and was gone the day after that. I did have to do extra stretches for my lats though.

I am not really a fan of kickbox, so I had procrastinated on doing the video.

Until tonight -- I did the Challenge (10 blasts) and then the low impact timesaver and two sets of those leg conditioning drills.

I finished with the second Core Max and the third Stetch Max.

Those leg conditioning drills remind me a lot of dance class -- I just love them.

I will get a lot of use out of Kick Max -- especially the Premixes!

I'm new to Cathe and had only done the KPC. I was going to order it, but then noticed the new Hardcore Kick Max that you were talking about. Have you ever done KPC? If so, which in your opinion is harder? (I'm sure they're both hard, but which did you like better?)

I prefer any cardio without the step. I just can't get the hang of that step. I feel like I have two left feet! So, I thought I would give Kick boxing a try.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dallas

Thanks JulieL,

I think I'm going to get both now. It's really overwhelming, but great at the same time with the amount of videos available. It's great that there's a video for just about every body part!

I'm primarily looking for some good cardio and weight videos. I've been doing the treadmill so long, that I've gotten bored with my workouts. So, it's time for a change. I love Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance. In fact, I did the lower body premix and then the treadmill. It was hard to finish my cardio. My legs were fried!

Love, love, love the workouts. I can't wait to expand my video collection.

Thanks again for you help. Dallas

I just did all of Kick Max for the first time today.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being complete comfort and 10 being sharp, lava hot pain and soreness, I am already feeling:

Lats: 8
Glutes: 9 (yeah!!!!!)
Abs: 6
Hipflexors: 7
Adductors: 6.5

The combos were pretty low impact, but they were so fun to do (loved the knees turning in a circle move). I really liked the challenge and the drills. Next time I do this one, I will try to add power/impact to the combos and see if I still have energy for the rest of the workout.

Just have to chime in here...

I did KickMax this morning, and ouchee!!! This was the first kickbox video I've done in a while (my KPC is colelcting dust right now), and boy, was I feeling it in my legs!

I'm trying to slim my hips and tighten my glutes. I certainly hope working this into my weekly rotation helps me out! Do think its okay to do this workout the day after an upper body workout? I just did BSB yesterday and my shoulders were screaming this morning!!!

I think this is an excellent workout. The four combos didn't get my heartrate high enough for my liking, but playing around with the premixes/chapters like others suggested will solve this. Like Jillybean, I will probably add some power moves after I get used to the workout. The challenge was more doable than I anticipated and the leg drills were great. KPC was my first real introduction to kickboxing, so I'm fairly new at it. By doing these drills yesterday, I finally understood the difference between a roundhouse and a side kick. (Guess I'm a little slow...) These drills will help me to better concentrate on form, so maybe I won't even need to add power moves once my form improves. Kickboxing is so form-intensive! Cathe's form has really improved over the years.

And to answer your question, my legs and butt are definitely sore today!
:)
