Something Other than Butter...

Ladies,

What do you use in place of butter for sauces? For instance, I made brown rice pasta with lemon, garlic, wine...and butter, though I would have used something else if I knew what. What's out there, good?

How about Olive Oil instead of butter? When I make white sauces I don't use butter in my roux but de-fatted chicken stock. Maybe substitute chicken stock into the rice instead of butter:) HTH

I like to drizzle flax seed oil on my bread and my veggies. To me, it tastes like butter!

I also use Butter Buds in my eggs...

There is "Smart Balance" which is the closest I have come to the real thing! It's got a decent amount of fat in it but it's a lot healthier than real butter and tastes much better than the other butter substitutes out there...HTH.:)

I use "Earth Balance" butter substitute. It has no dairy and no trans-fats. It does have omega3 and omega6 though. I honestly can't tell the difference between this and butter.

Extra virgin olive oil (for sauces, dressings, etc., use virgin for cooking and stirfrying). I've also used Earth Balance soft spread for some things.
