I've been trying to type something that would help you. But I'm sorry, I'll have to think on this some more ;-) . You could attract the house guests from hell. OTOH, a nice hand bag could be heavenly.

OMG! You guys are too funny! Although hardly a bit of help LOL. Hmmmm what do I need more, a beautiful new purse or a beautiful new guestroom? Shall we list the pros & cons?
Pros:
--my #1 reason for spending lots on new purses: unlike shoes, sweaters or other clothes, you "wear" it pretty much every day, so my purse is much more visible than my guestroom
--I love it & probably will not be able to sleep at night until it's in my hot little hands
--people will think I'm wealthy
--I have no reason to use my guestroom in the foreseeable future (mostly for the reasons mentioned above), but I could use that purse tomorrow
Cons:
--The guestroom is the only room left in the house that's unfinished
Crap. I think I've made my decision. And I will NOT post a link b/c I'd be embarassed for you all to see my extravagance......

Dear god, woman, tell me you're not going to buy the bag that's $525.....
I learned my lesson when I went on a Coach binge a few years ago. I bought, like, 4 of those bags in approximately 2 months. And now I hate them and they sit in the back of my closet. I have way too many. From now on my purses only come from Target, Kohl's, or the like.

Okay here's the plan. Redo the guest room, charge a small fee to your guests, and buy the purse. Or, just buy the purse and hit ME over the head for making light of your struggle.
Plan 2
Time to get serious, you will always want something new. Make the better investment and stick with your original plan. Cut back on something you wanted for the guest room and put the savings aside. In good time, you will have saved enough for the purse.

I don't know, I've spend all my money on my house for the last 6 mos. I've replaced all the shades w/new wood blinds. I installed an attic ladder. I put new drawer pulls & knobs in the kitchen (sounds small but those suckers add up!). I painted the second floor. I finished my basement. I bought a puppy, probably the most important purchase so far (I love my little girl! ) .
I haven't bought anything new for myself since I bought this house. My work clothes are fraying & the armstrap on my current handbag is all crinkled & faded. The most I've spent on clothes is getting my dry cleaning done.
