Somebody hand me a fire extinguisher...

Cathlete
...Because my legs are on fire!

I attempted to do IMAX3 this morning. The operative word here is "attempted". Did I succeed? Heck no. Cathe just about killed me. I am very new to Cathe and I knew I wasn't going to be able to do IMAX3 all the way through, so I did the Blasts 1-4 Premix, thinking "surely I could get through just 4". What I learned from my experience this morning:

1. I can't jump. Seriously. All that jumping onto the step, and jumping the length of the step, and tuck jumps and all that stuff - how in the world do they jump so high? I cannot jump onto my step to save my life. I was pretty sure I was going to break my neck. So I jumped on the floor. I am using the Firm Box as my step, which is 6.5" high in the low position - I think that is just too high for me. Not that I think I could jump onto a 6" step. Or even a 4" step. I'm really that bad. Does it get any better? Please, someone reassure me that I will eventually be able to jump higher!

2. Plie jacks are the spawn of Satan. 'Nuff said.

3. I am about as coordinated as a centipede on roller skates. You know, I did the LowMax step-only premix and got all those step combos down the first time I did it. But the step combos in IMAX3 had me all tied up in knots - I didn't know whether I was coming or going.

But, despite all my difficulties, I actually enjoyed it. It gives me some goals to shoot for - like, being able to jump higher. And being able to do ALL the plie jacks without crying. And... someday... being able to do the whole workout start to finish.

Oh, and I still need that fire extinguisher - pass it along, will ya? :p

Imax 3 rocks and I was just about in tears the first time I did it. But it will come. I found the combinations in Lowmax MUCH easier to learn (I got them first time as well) and I think it's partly because it's low impact, there isn't all that jumping around.

In answer to your points listed above:

1. Cathe and crew have had their legs replaced with cybernetic prosthetics. It's the only way they can do all that jumping and still be smiling.

2. Plie jacks are indeed, the spawn of Satan.

3. You'll get Imax 3, but it's gonna take a few times and a lot of "reviewing".

Oh, and here's your fire extinguisher *hands you a fire extinguisher*. I hope it helps. If it doesn't just throw it through the TV screen next time you work out;)

Emily, you are cracking me up! Stick with it, you will see and feel noticeable improvements every time you try it. The step combos are not broken down in any way, which can make it more difficult, that and knowing that you only have 6 times through to get it right before the next blast!
I agree about the origin of the Plie Jacks, BTW....}(

Ha Emily! Your post put a huge smile on my face! Keep at it. Just attempting IMax3 as one of your very first Cathe workouts in itself is an accomplishment! Each time you will get better & better! PROMISE! Is there any way you can afford a long step and just use the 4" topper? I am certain that you will be able to do some of the moves on a 4" compared to the 6.5 you tried. Keep up the good work and glad you enjoyed yourself! (LOVED the centipede with roller skates! :7)

Emilie~

You and I had the very same first impressions of IMAX3. Yesterday was my second attempt and much to my delight, things flowed much better. I had to modify some of the blasts, I don't jump as high as Cathe and crew and I don't have all the footwork down on the combos but I made it thru the entire workout! Keep at it and I will, too! We can compare notes.

Emily -

You get an A+++++ for the awesome effort! I haven't even bought Imax3. I only just mastered I2 recently so I'm riding on that high for awhile.

Cathe must have been in a bad mood when she put plie jacks in her routine.

Kim - you are awesome if you can get all the way through IMAX3 on your 2nd try. Way to go!!! I don't expect to be nearly so successful - I am pretty sure my heart rate monitor was about to explode during the plie jacks. LOL! But you, and everyone else who responded, have been so encouraging - I know I'll be able to do the whole thing eventually. That's why this forum is so awesome - y'all are so supportive. :D

LOL!!!! Emily, you are so right. I have "tried" to finish The Terminator IMAX Xtreme for at least three weeks. I get so excited when I make it through a complete segment without forgetting a move or tripping over my feet, I have to stop and strut around the room. Jacks and TUCKS (who knew there was such a variety)....well maybe before the spring season is over! Keep working it lady!
