Some Questions For Cathe

This IS "Ask Cathe" so I am asking because I think other people are interested in how you are doing after your pregnancy.

1. How are you feeling? Is your energy coming back post birth?

2. When do you think you will feel like teaching again and what do you plan to begin with - or will you return to your usual schedule as Eric permits?

3. How is Eric doing? Does he sleep well? What is his progress?

I hope these aren't too nosey. Just really would like to know how your new family is in as much detail as you care to share.

PS: Husband created a workout room for me in our house as a surprise for Christmas. There...now this post is also fitness related (he he).

Hi Donna!

Wow, what a wonderful husband and what a wonderful surprise! Now you have no excuse not to workout. Okay, enough of the fitness related stuff--ha ha!

I'm feeling great, thanks. In the last two weeks I have really been feeling like my body is on the comeback. I'll only be having a couple of minor set backs. The first is that since I am breastfeeding, a mild amount of the relaxin hormone(which keeps your ligaments and joints a bit soft during pregnancy)will remain in my system until I stop. Since I plan to continue breastfeeding for a while longer, my joints can be a bit unstable and I will need to be extra cautious. I have already tested this situation during the move, youch!

The second minor set back is that the sinus related toothache that haunted me during my pregnancy has now developed into a bit more serious situation. I will have to have some minor gum and jaw bone surgery to fix things up. Some of that is actually starting tomorrow.

Other than that, I really feel wonderful and am looking foreward to working out again.

I have posted an announcement at the gym stating that I will be back teaching my classes on Feb 21st. I was planning on teaching my normal schedule but since I have moved a distance away from the gym, I will have to re-arrange my teaching schedule to accomodate that distance. We have a daycare at the gym for Eric's purposes but I am instead going to line up sitters(a few trusted members)to watch him while I teach. When I start teaching, I will start with my Monday morning kickbox and then go into Mondays 3:30 step. Of course I will be modifying heavily with both classes. Wednesday and Friday morning I will do step(maybe some hi/lo in it too). I plan to start off with a six inch step height for step classes and also do more coaching and less participating until I become more conditioned. I will also do one or two Body Pump classes a week to get my muscles going again. As for my little angel Eric, I have just posted a postpartum update in the pregnancy forum(which you may have already read)that will share more details of his progress.

My husband and I are loving parenthood. Yes, its exhausting, but very exciting and rewarding too. The bond grows deeper by the day. We are learning his little behavior patterns and he is learning all about his mommy and daddy. We wonder just how much he takes in from all those little coochie coo chats we have with him. Thanks for asking about us.
