Some personal news to share

Hello :)

I mentioned to a few of you that I was considering breast augmentation because my wonderful, amazing journey of weight loss has robbed me of my once D chest-- now mind you I should've never been a D, that was too much, but I would much like to have my 36/38 Cs back.. and so I'm going for consultations on Wed so I can do it before I have to go back to school (teaching second grade).

Just thought I'd let everyone know.. I won't be able to workout for a couple of weeks and probably no weights for a month, but I think it will be worth it!

If anyone else has done this and has an advice/experience to share, I'd love to hear it! (good and bad)

:)

I have to tell you, YES! I have done it! Would I rather be a B size? Yes that too! My SO probably would never hear of it though!

Good for you Lady! I was pregnant only once but dang! it tore up my body! I don't regret getting the implants. Like I have said many times before, I felt like I had socks with marbles in them. There are many women out there that would never understand, YOU ARE LUCKY!

I'm interested in lipo. Would you mind sharing your experience and outcome? I've heard a lot about it from both sides of the spectrum but I've found that people either hated it or loved it. Just wondering.

Nope never had it done. I have a friend who did though and she is very happy with it! Let us know how it goes.

Hey Marla, in the roadtrip pics there is a pic of you wearing a white shirt with pink writing. What does it say? I think that shirt is very cute!

Terri

Good grief! I got hell back at home for wearing it. My DH/SO, OK, my boyfriend for the past 9 years in the common-law state of Texas, bought that one for me as well as almost anything I own because he loves to shop & I DON'T!

It said Playmate of the Year. Trust me, I am a bigtime women's rights advocate. But I wore it because it was soft & comfortable. Actually Christie & Nadine ribbed me about it because they thought it said Primate of the Year!:+

Marla

Hey I see nothing wrong with wearing a shirt that says that! But wait...Did I hear corectly? YOU HATE TO SHOP! OMG I live to shop :) So he even picks out all of your clothes? That is way cool that a hubby would do that and even more so that you like what he buys! Marla you are a lucky gal :)

Terri

Thank you everyone for the good wishes! I'm glad to hear some of you have had or know of people who are happy with the results. I'm soooooooooooo nervous. I'm not even telling my best friend because she's been so at odds with me about my weight to begin with-- I know she's going to give me hell for this-- so I figure I'll save that fight for AFTER the surgery... don't need the battle now. She's going to be mad, but I just don't think I can take the negativity right now.

Thanks everyone for sharing with me... Steve is really nervous. He's taking the day off to come with me and my mom. He's so cute!

Hi Susan
I had implants put in 5 yrs. ago. I was always an A-B cup person, but after having 3 children (and breastfeeding for a few yrs,) they were like pancakes. :( I initially was interested in just a breast lift, but the surgeon suggested that implants would give me a better result than lift only. I thought about it for a few mos. and decided to go ahead. Mine are a C.
I don't know about anyone else, but I could not believe how sore I was for so long. (Mine are placed under the muscle). I remember wincing wiping down my kitchen counter and opening jars 6 wks. post op. The doc said back to work in a week, but I wasn't ready for 2 wks. (RN, physically demanding job etc). I'm not saying this to discourage you, and hopefully, your results will be different. One of children was a c-section and that was a trip to Paris compared to the augmentation recovery.
Plastic surgery is a very personal and serious decision. Like any surgery, it has risks involved. People will give you all sorts of advice and opinions, but ultimately, you're the one who has to be happy w/ your decision. Best of luck,
Valerie :)

I had it done 1.5 years ago...on Fat Tuesday;) LOL!! My advice:

1. Go bigger. An augmented "c" looks like a "b". I had spent so much time researching and talking to women all over the country who had it done and 98%, if not more, wish they had gone bigger!

2. Tell as few people as possible. Unless you are prepared to hear their views about it. I told two people...DH and brother. Told my brother 3 days prior! That way I heard no opinions! I did tell people after the fact. From what I observed from talking to so many other BA ladies, their girlfriends get pretty jealous and get totally crazy about the issue! Don't tell them at all or wait until it's done!

3. Research like crazy, make sure your doctor is top notch, expensive doesn't mean "risk free", however DO NOT BUDGET SHOP!

You can PM me with any question you have...it is a major thing so don't hesitate to ask me ANYTHING!!!

BTW, the exercise thing varies from doctor to doctor. I wasn't allowed to do ANYTHING for 4 long, miserable weeks! I was ready after 2 weeks but still not allowed!x( I called trying to get off on technicalities but failed! Once the 4 weeks were up and I started back slowley, it seemed to really expedite my healing!

Hi Ima :)

Thank you for the great advice. I have 4 consultations on Wednesday-- 1 is a woman who is realtively unknown, 2 are very highly recommended male surgeons and one I'm going to cancel because I found out he has a bunch of lawsuits against him because he does "extreme augmentations."

Thank you for the advice about telling my friends-- the only people who know now are Steve, my Mom and a friend who lives in California and I knew would just have a very "normal" reaction. I haven't told my best friend because of all the reasons you just mentioned. However, I have to ask you-- didn't the friends you DIDNT tell notice??? I mean how did you explain it without telling them? I'm definitely not telling her unless she notices, but I can't imagine her NOT noticing afterwards?

I've heard your advice about size quite a bit and it is gonig to be the focus of alot of my consultation time-- I'm going to bring a bra with me that I can no longer wear because it is just HUGE... and tell the dr. that I would like to fill it again-- the bra is a 36C(but a bigger 36C then most)... so I'm sure he'll be able to tell me what size and CCs I'll need to fill that size bra.

I have also heard different theories on teh workout and recovery time. One of the receptionists/patient coordinators with Dr. Senderoff who had surgery, said my recovery might be a little easier/quicker because of all my extra skin. She said alot of the pain/recovery time is because when you go in as a natural A and go to a C/D, your body has to stretch and grow-- but I already have the skin/room.. the dr. would tell me more but she felt women who came in with the extra skin/stretched out bust, had an easier time of it.

I will definitely post here and PM you with any questions that come up-- they'll probably be more of them during my recovery then now- if you think of anything feel free to email me at [email protected]. I think I'm more worried about recovery then anything-- but I had sinus surgery last summer and bounced back much quicker then expected, so I'm hoping this will follow suit.

Thanks again! :)
Susan

I definitely agree, a large C "may"look like a B. I am one of those women that were not too badly off, got pregnant, lost weight & then lost boobage! I know all about skin stretching & then trying to fill it up. I wish I wasn't as big as I am. Sometimes it makes me look like I'm just fat! Pregnancy is not always that flattering to a female form. I wish I could look just feminine without looking fake. Is there ever a happy medium for women?

I say all this to women and nothing but women.

Marla you look beautiful the way you are! Very sexy! http://www.phpbbforfree.com/forums/images/smiles/naughty.gif I'm shocked http://www.phpbbforfree.com/forums/images/smiles/omg.gif you said, "sometimes it makes me look like I'm just fat."

That is soooooo not true. Seriously! You look as trim and fit as ever. Beautiful!

Thank you, Sweet Dani, for just reading into my insecurities. I'm just amazed you could really feel what I was trying to say!!!

Marla

Like everyone else said. Research, Research Research. I have had multiple friends who have had it done. Each with different experiences. A few have had it done more than once. As for exercise, definitely follow the drs orders. Alot of women who have them placed under the muscle, don't realize how exercising the chest muscles can affect the placement. I have heard of women having to have them corrected because exercises like pec flys actually caused the implants to move. So make sure you ask exercise questions. Good luck with all of it.

Susan one way to brush it off, is to say you got a wonderbra or a push-up bra, to go with your new outfit. I know one of my friends use to tell the negative friends that, so they wouldn't get so jealous of her. And you know most of them went out and bought a push up bra, and then stuffed it more to get the same look. They never realized her's weren't a push-up bra. Or you could also do a minimizer bra around your friend, but that defeats the purpose of going bigger. So just BS and say you're trying a new push-up bra you found. Which sould work unless your really going a lot bigger. Like from an A to a D or something.

But 3 of my friends, as well as half the women in my old fitness class all loved their augmentation. The only thing they really hated, was the fact, a lot of times when doing aerobics, they don’t bounce like normal breast. So it was a dead give away that they had it done. But the only people who really notice this, is the instructor.

Ok here's a good question-- when you did start working out again and lifting weights, did you still work your chest muscles? I'm thinking I should just leave my chest alone-- it is naturally lean looking and I'm much more concerned with the rest of my upper bodya nd lower body then my chest-- with the implants (unders) I'm thinking I should just let good enough alone and my implants will be fine for chest development. What do you think?

Susan,
I totally commend you for all the weight you have lost and the discipline you have with you workouts but, I saw you on the roadtrip and I think you are beautiful and sexy just the way you are. Don't get me wrong I am not against breast implants I just think you look fit and healthy and just don't need it. HAve you thought about why you are getting them? Is it for your boyfriend or are you truly insecure or uncomfortable with your breast size. I just think that we live in such a society that says we have to have big breasts and I think it is better to look fit., and a lot of times that means we have small breasts. Just my 2 cents and I hope I haven't offended you in anyway. Good luck with your decision and keep us posted.:)
