Soft, squishy medicine balls

Hi everybody,

I recently ordered several SPRI Xerballs to use with the new TLT DVD's. They arrived yesterday and just out of curiosity I decided to weigh them. I used a digital food scale.

I got a pair of 2 pounders to give to my FIL for his at home physical therapy so I weighed both of those. One came in at 2 lbs 1/4oz, the other weighed 2 lbs 2 3/4 oz. Has anyone else ever checked their weights for accuracy?

Michele :)

Michele,
Hey, what's up with that?....hmmm....are you going to write them or send them back?

I just have one set of squishy balls I bought by Karen Voight eons ago ...they are supposed to be 3 lbs each and they are exactly (I checked). Now, I would be very leary to buy them from SPRI Xerballs if I were ever to buy the TLT DVDs....Interesting.

Hi Robin and thanks for checking the weight on your Karen Voight med balls.

I would definitely be interested in the opinions of others here on the forum. The one that's just off by 1/4 oz didn't alarm me but I was a little miffed by the 2 3/4 oz difference. I actually think that's a pretty big difference. Think about plate mates that people use when they want to bump it up a little bit.

I think I'll give them a call.

Michelle, I actually have randomly checked my weights to make sure they are what weight they are supposed to be. I have not checked my new SPRI ball though. You're right about the Plate mates. You pay a lot for that little extra weight.

Thanks Susan. If you happen to weigh your squishy ball please let me know if the weight is accurate.

Yes, you do pay alot for platemates, but a little bit of extra weight can make a big difference. Also, my FIL will be using the balls simultaneously so he will not be getting an even workout IMO.

I called Spri and they said it's not unusual for there to be some slight variations in the weights. They are willing to refund my money so now I just need to decide if I want to return them or not. Oh crap---I hate decisions like this--LOL!!

Michele

Would you have to pay to have them shipped back?
Maybe you could use a marker and indicate the actual weight, so he could alternate balls for each set.

You know, that thought just occurred to me as well. I'll just tell him to switch them around after each set.

The more I think about it, I guess it's not such a big deal. I just expected the weights to be accurate. It's like finding out your 10# plate actually weighs 10.5 lbs. I think Spri should amend their descriptions to read "Approximate weight". Just my 2 cents.
