So ... now what?

I have been in weight loss mode forever. Try this, try that, this doesn't work, new theory, blah, blah, blah. Last September got really serious. Found a great weight loss plan - and - I did it. I'm at my goal of 118 pounds. Yippee. Now what? I feel rather lost. For those of you who have lost weight and maintained the loss - what did you do? Did you modify your calories or exercise? Or just keep on doing what you were doing? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Congratulations. Lorrie!! WOO HOO! That's quite an accomplishment and you should be really proud of yourself.

I wish I had some sage advice to pass on but I don't, but I'll keep watching your thread just to gain a little wisdom myself.

Great job Lorrie! My advice is to constantly give yourself goals, even if they are small. For example, you can try and build strength and/or endurance for weak areas. Test your strength and then test again after an appropriate rotation. You can also build your cardio endurance with a certain activity(like running) or whatever seems challenging to you. You can train for an event like a 1/2 marathon or something like that too. I guess what I'm trying to say is, focus on fitness and health and fun INSTEAD of weight loss. :) :)

How long have you been maintaining your goal weight? Are you confident you can maintain your weight loss?

No Candi - I'm not that confident at all - that's why I'm feeling a little lost. I just got there - weighed in at the end of last week at goal. I plan to keep eating the same as before - because for me weight loss is all about the food. But I don't need to keep on losing and I'm wondering if my body will just plateau here - which would be fine. I am switching up my workouts a bit - focusing more on my Fluidity Barre (which i LOVE!!) etc. - so I guess I can play around and see how by body reacts to different routines. That would be quite a pleasant change from the primary focus always being about losing. Still - I have this vision of being like Oprah after she did her famous roll out the fat in the wagon show and then immediately started to climb back up. Even though my eating is very different, my fear is because I've never been here.

Good for you Lorrie! I've been in maintenance mode for some time & my routine pretty much depends on how I feel this month or that. Usually I push myself really hard & each week I focus on a different body part & work it to the max. Often I'll pull out my trusty Arnold's encyclopedia of weightlifting & throw in some new exercises.

There are some months I just stick w/my normal lifting routine & don't vary anything.

So you should feel really good in knowing at this point you can take it easy & not push yourself, or you can play around w/your routine & have some fun.

Lorrie,

The reason I ask is because I was on a similar nutritional plan a few years ago. Three or four shakes a day plus one meal. At least that's how I envision the Cinch plan. My intention is not discourage you but to warn you...watch your eating closely...at least for awhile longer. As soon as I went off the eating plan I was on and strayed, I gained the weight back pretty quick. If it's all about the eating for you...then that should be your focus, until you feel comfortable that you can maintain the weight loss you've accomplished. Other than that, I think you should have fun with your workouts now and start trying new things...like Fluidity!

I did see the Fluidity bar this morning and I am very intrigued. I was hoping you and Marie would keep us posted as to body changes experienced while doing this different type of workout.

Very happy to hear you have finally achieved your goals. I know you've worked long and hard to get there!!!:7

Congratulations, Lorrie!!!! It's so awesome to hear you've reached your goal, especially as we know how frustrated you were last year. I will be interested to hear how you go into maintenance... since I never seem to get there, lol.

So happy to hear you're loving the Fluidity, too! Did you get the other workouts yet?

Candi, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fluidity. Right now I'm in the midst of P90X, though, and just can't seem to get it in, so no stories from me at the moment. If you aren't sure you might like barre work, do you have netflix? Because you can rent the Lotte Berks (I'd recommend High Round Assets) or the Bar Methods to get a feel for the workout methodology without the investment. (They show you options for using chairs and/or walls.)

Lorrie- Thank you so much for asking this question!!! After working hard at losing for 2 years and then stalling out last summer (when I completely upped the workouts with Cathe), I am determined to lose the last 20 lbs this year and reach my goal weight!!! I have also been in the "lose" frame of mind for so long that when (NOT 'if') I reach my goal weight, I really won't know what to do with myself.

Congratulations on your goal!!! I makes me so excited to see someone reach their weight goal! Oh, and I have been seeing the Fluidity bar on the infomercials and it looks super intruiging! I am glad to hear of people using it and loving it!

Marie- thanks for the netflix hint, I never though of looking there for Lottie Berk.

Marie,

I actually own the Lotte Berk's but have never used them. I keep thinking....someday :)

Maybe I will pull them out and do them on my rest day to see how I like them!!!

Thanks for the tip.

Hey Candi if you do give those Lotte Berke methods a try, let us know how they are. I haven't gotten them yet as I want to spend some time learning the Fluidity workouts before I move on. I do think Michelle Austin is fabulous and as I said, I am really enjoying this kind of workout. It's very different from anything I've ever done. You wouldn't think that just your own body weight can be that much of a workout - but it is! Thanks for all the tips everyone!

I just ordered Yoga workouts to give this a try again. I did yoga a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm feeling like I want to change things up so I'll find a way to integrate the yoga and Lotte Berks and let you know what happens!
