So I think I'm in good shape...

HA! Got up this morning and did a TLT - Better Burn Better Buns, followed by some Squeeze segments. Knew I needed a rest day from my beloved Cathes. Then I did a 17-mile walk (training for the 60). My dear Catheites - I AM FRIED!!!! I considered the video selections more easy going, but today took it out of me! At the end of my 17, I did feel as if I could walk another 5 or so. But now I'm thinking how am I going to be able to do 24 one day, 20 the next, and 16 the next. I'm cooked! Good night.

I'll be walking the Komen 3-day (60 miles) the week after Cathe's RT. To view my webpage go to: https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=202302&supid=166016627

You will be fine.! Maybe today was just a slow day. Don't beat yourself up. You are doing great just take breaks when you need to.

Hmm, I'm sitting here chuckling reading what you did. Yeah, I'd be totally fried after a 17 mile walk without the BBBB and the Squeeze. 17 miles is a long time to be on your feet walking! Good for you, though, to be out there doing something so worth while!

Next time, though- I'd treat your training walk like a long run - and let it be solo. You're doing great.

Um Lorrie, you ARE in good shape to even attempt a day like that. Sometimes I think we expect a lot. yesterday I was dog tired by evening, and when I looked back at what I did, 14 mile bike ride, Cathe's CTX Leaner Legs(can you say fried legs), 1 hour lap swim, gardening, 90 minute softball practice, and then to the mall with the teenagers, I guess I had a right to fall asleep at 9:30!

Wow!! I am impressed by you!! I did an upper body workout and quit after that....now, I feel guilty! ha

Now, I MUST ask...how long does it take to walk 17 miles...and then 60 miles??? WOWOOWOWOOWOWOW (I've ran 4 marathons and can never imagine walking them...it would take so long) How do you do it? I am so impressed!

You need to rest!

Hi Jennifit. We average just under 14-minute miles. When we do the 60 they give walkers from sun-up to sun-down to finish, but my walking buddies and I are hoping that we can start first thing in the morning (around 6:30) and given lunch and water / foot check breaks be back to camp by about 1:30ish. That way we'd hit the showers early and have the whole balance of the day to rest and gear up for the next day. I'm also planning on bringing along a few muscle relaxers to help me sleep well at night. Something tells me though that by that 3rd day, we may be dragging a bit.

Thanks for the encouragement all. I did hit the sack early (and missed my Caveliers winning the Eastern Conf championships). Did LIC this morning and went out to try another 6 miles, but got pulled back by thunder and lightening :(. I have 11 weeks till the event. Hopefully the endurance will be peaking by then. :)

We took a replenishment break at about 12 miles. Let me tell you I cannot say enough good things about Shaklee's Performance drink - like it much better than Gatorade. My fingers swell a lot on these walks, and I drink too much water in general - so those electrolytes are essential. Camel packs are also invaluable. But yes, we book it. We started in the morning at about 8:00 and we were done by 12:30. All the ladies who have done this before say it's one thing to walk 20 miles in a day, but quite another to get up and do it again, and then get up and do it yet again. I should feel pretty accomplished by the end (I hope).
