Snazzy New Gadgets for Dad???

My dad is the most difficult person to shop for during the holidays! I want to get him something fun, like a new gadget or something. He likes to fish and do work around the house...that's all. No reading, golf, or anything like that. HELP!!!!

Sears/Craftsman always has cool new tool gadgets. Does he have an Ipod to listen to when he putters around the house? Dad's are always hard to buy for. I'm stuck, too.

My dad is another techie, but it's so hard to say what he wants, that stuff can be super expensive, plus he always gets that stuff for himself. I'm thinking this year I'll go with a fun magazine subscription for him. Popular Science or Mental Floss. That way he can make more informed decisions about all the gadgets he wants. :)

Brookstone always has fun and nifty things. I confess to buying a remote control helicopter. It has been quite fun teasing my crazy dog with it.

Those remote controlled helicopters look so awesome! I was in Radio Shack the other day and the sales guy was showing me all the cool toys, etc. He said that when there are no customers, they fly those helicopters all over the store crashing into stuff, etc. I'm really tempted to get one for DH, but I think he'd terrorize the dog WAY too much....:)

If your dad likes to fish, how about some fishing lures or fishing-related stuff? DH fishes and fishing stuff used to be a go-to gift until he pretty much got everything there is... I now once in awhile will get him a gift certificate to the local tackle store so he can use it to buy bait, etc all summer. Not a real exciting gift, but.... Once I got him a hand-held fishing game that was cool.

I agree that dads are tough to buy for... but some cool tool gadget would be great, especially if he putters around the house. Or what about a cheap GPS if he doesn't have one? Radar detector? Police scanner? Weather radio (to listen to forecasts for fishing trips)? If he drinks wine, one of those battery-operated wine openers? Can't think of anything else at the moment...

Good luck!

This isn't a gadget, but I got my dad a year of netflix. After He figured it out, he really likes it. Melissa
