Does anyone know when you are out and about a good place to buy a good smoothie that is HEALTHY? Or anybody have a good receipe. I see a lot of you add different things on some old posts like whey or flaxseed what is this and what does it do for you? I would love to start my morning out with one here and there.

Thank YOu

Hi,
I often have smoothies for breakfast or lunch. Here are a couple of my favs.
Frozen banana, ripe mango and light van soy milk. Sometimes I add a powder called Spirutein (soy based), van flavor.

Or Frozen banana and ripe mango, a little soy milk or water and kale (a cup of leaves or more, no stems) I can leave the mango out of this and use two bananas.

Soy milk, carob powder and banana and a glob of almond butter, sometimes with the Spirutein.

Another smoothie I enjoy, especially after a workout is
an apple, a navel orange, some pineapple, a little juice or water to get it all going in the blender and a splash of lemon juice and frozen blueberries (about a 1/2 cup or more). I think this is good on its own but I usually add a large amount of fresh spinach to make it a green smoothie. The color goes from a pretty pinkish to ugly, though. If you leave out the blueberries, you just get a pretty green color.

I often add a T of ground flax seeds and/or 1/2 T of flax oil or hemp oil. The seeds are a good source of fiber and I can't remember all the good things about flax, but a little is good for the heart/lipid profile.

What I make depends on my mood, if I need it to hold me for awhile or if I am thirsty and hungry after a morning workout.

I am interested in hearing other's favorites as well.

This is a very good recipe that I discovered. I cut & pasted from a previous post in which I had submited this:

I saw this one on Kitchen Accomplished on the FoodNetwork a few weeks ago & just tried this today.

1 Banana
1 cup Mango
2 cups of Spinach (yes, spinach)
1 cup of Cranberry juice
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
Ice cubes

This was so delicous. Of course, I added the ice & protein to their recipe. I could not believe how tasty this was. You couldn't taste the spinach & it had some power nutrients with it.

I would not lie. This a super delish recipe. Some people get put off by the thought of spinach, though.
