Smart DVD Player

So what I would love to do is program my dvd player with various programs to mix and match my Cardio Hits workouts. So let's say I have 3 different programs. I want to set them up and then when I put that dvd in, the player still remembers the programs so I can just select and go. Like my own private premixes. Are there any dvd players that can do this or am I just dreaming?

Thanks.

I used to have a programmable DVD player, but it didn't remember a DVD once I took it out, so I had to reprogram each time. I'm not sure if there are any that can remember each DVD, but it sounds like a nice feature!

I think the problem is that manufacturers don't think in terms of DVD workouts, just 'movies," and even some of the programmable multi-disc DVD players will program across CD's but not DVD's. (I mean, who wants to watch one chapter of one movie, then go to a chapter in another movie?)

Hmmm...I wonder how successful a 'workout' DVd player would be, with all the feature we home exercisers want: multi dics, with ability to program between discs for DVDs; memory that can store up to 3 different programs for up to 20 different DVD's... Ah, one can always dream!

I wouldn't really care if the programming takes awhile if the player remembers the program when I put the DVD back in. It'd be worth it. What I hate is programming a workout. Then I use another dvd and the silly player doesn't remember my workout and I have to do it all over again.

LOL Kathryn, great minds think alike. I've been thinking about the same thing lately. Wouldn't it be cool to have a player that remembers personal mishmoshes. Also, another nice feature would be a wrist-mounted remote or voice-activated player so we could quickly skip discs/chapters without having to pick up the remote. Because my player doesn't remember the programs I set up, I rarely use the program feature but instead queue up the DVDs and use the remote to disc/chapter skip.

I was really hoping such a thing existed. :( Maybe I'll have to just get a 400 DVD changer so I never have to remove my DVDs from the machine.

Ladies:

I know this is different, but have you tried the ipod Shuffle?? You load it up with all your favorite, inspiring running music and it either shuffles it all around so you never know which one will play next, or it plays them in order. It's like having endless mixes of your favorite songs because you picked them in the first place. I love it!

>And let me add that you can get refurbished ipod Shuffles on
>the Apple website for less than $50... that's what I did.
>Cool stuff.

Did I miss something? Do iPod Shuffles allow you to load and play DVDs somehow? I've had iPod as an item on my wishlist but it keeps getting bumped to the bottom of the list. It would be great to at least transfer the audio from the DVD to the iPod. When vacationing it would be nice to have, for example, PUB or PLB in the player to help keep me focused when working out in a gym away from home. I could easily follow a weight workout via audio only.

Oh boy - I might be getting in over my head on this one, but I think that you can download music CDs to the ipod. Does that mean you can do DVDs? I'm a techno idiot and rely on my teenage sons to tell me what to do. Please check the Apple site for info on that (or ask your teenagers!:p ).

Seems that the thread was hijacked to a totally different topic. Don't know why.

Anyway, I wonder if there is a computer program that will pull audio from a DVD and put it in mp3 format? I think I can do Step Blast with no video. ;-)

I'll bet there is somewhere. (and look, you turned the off-topic posts into topical posts!
;-) )

Acatalina,

Perhaps one day (dreaming too) we'll have our dream come true.

Charlotte, your opinion counts. You know, I'm going to ask my husband if the Ipod can work for our DVD's the way we want them to. Good comment.

Ceval, I'm also going to ask my husband if there might be a program to help us out. Great idea.

My husband knows a lot about computers, he builds them and is up on any and all new things that is happening.

Can this be recorded on a TIVO? (my husband asks)

Charlotte, sorry if I sounded harsh. I was puzzled as to why you were talking about the shuffle. That's for audio. I want a DVD player that will remember my personal premixes even when I remove a DVD. That's what this thread was started for. The shuffle is a nice little device (I have one), but it can't read or program DVDs. Just a totally different topic, that's all.

Cheval:

Actually,it is not a different topic, as you yourself pointed out by asking if an mp3 could record dvds so you could do the workouts without video.

At any rate, I have thick skin and do not take offense from your barb, but think it really is important to keep in mind how we all respond to posts. For example, I have noticed that the young lady who is a medical student has not returned since the challenging remarks regarding the MasterCleanse thread. That is a shame because she has a great deal of knowledge and training that I, for one, can learn from. That's why most of us keep an eye on these posts.

If I am off totally, please let us all know so we can decide if this is a user-friendly message board. I'd hate to be sentenced to lurking only but don't really want to get shot full of holes!!
