Slow & Heavy biceps

Is it normal to work the forearms when doing heavier or slower bicep work? I've noticed that when I do the Slow & Heavy workout and do biceps, the next day my forearms are sore, as well as my biceps. I try to focus on only using the bicep muscle to lift. The weight I use is challenging to me, but I'm not losing form or anything. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

My forearms definetly get sore - they are usually the first thing that gets sore when I am doing heavier weights for bicep work. I did PUB yesterday, and my bi's are fine - it is my upper forearm that is sore...

Oh yes, every time! Perfectly normal I reckon. How could you avoid training the forearms with bicep work?

The forearms are normally worked during bicep work, but if you feel they are getting 'too much" work, make sure you aren't gripping the weight too tightly (easy to do with the slow pace). The forearm is worked quite a bit with grip moves.

At the end of the SH bicep workout, there's a portion specifically FOR the forarms...One for upper, one for lower...Mine have the DOMS the next day, too...In fact, right now!! LOL! I'm doing a SH heavy week (it's week #2!)..

Kathryn....question.

When I'm doing bicep curls, S&H, PUB, what have you, the fold of my left arm, just below the bicep hurts like crazy, is that normal?

If I feel I can't make it with a certain weight, I will lower the weight. I try to watch myself in the mirror during every rep, but man it can ache and it's only the left arm. Any suggestions?

It may be normal for you, but I would suspect (because it's only on one side, and it hurts "like crazy") that you may have had an injury of some sort there in the past (maybe didn't realize that you pulled the muscle?) and it's either still touchy, or hasn't healed.

Did this start recently? Or at some time you can pinpoint?

It's been that way for a few months. Even when I use a preacher bench or a curl machine. It just seems that the left always gives out before the right. I will even put a BIG GAP between bicep exercises; so I don't think it's a pulled muscle.....???? My bicep never seems to hurt or ache any other time only during curls, beit dbell or bbell.

Yeah, I don't do those exercises because I have weak wrists and when I try those it tends to irritate them. I was just thinking that if you're using your forearm as a lever to do the curls, then in theory, you should be working mostly your bicep.
