Slow and Heavy question

Hello. Does anyone use less than the 50 lbs. for squats in SH legs? My barbell only goes up to 37 lbs. and I'm wondering if that will still be effective for a "slow and heavy" style workout. I don't have $$ to spend on a new barbell set right now, because I've spent it all on Cathe DVDs! Thanks in advance.

37 lbs may be a bit light, depending on your strength (legs can usually take a lot) but whether it's too light depends on your goals.

Right now, my goal is weight loss and definition (not muscle building) and I just did SH Legs today with a 40 lb barbell. I tacked on an additional 200 walking lunges, and let me tell you, my legs and glutes definitely feel worked.

I hope this helps!

I don't have a barbell that goes up high either. Cathe pre-fatigues the legs with dumbbell exercises beforehand in S&H anyway, so I feel like I can get away without it. If I'm feeling like I didn't get enough of a workout, I usually tack on some slow and low squats and that always gets me.

I have been using 40 pounds on SH and let me tell you...I am still fatigued....:D . If you don't feel like you have done enough (and you're a stronger women than me if that's the case:) )You can always add on the legs from MM or PH if you have those DVDs, and I'm sure you'll feel fatigued by then.

Good luck and happy lifting:p !
