Slim Series? Anyone Like This?

tneah

Cathlete
Ok, since I am shaking things up and trying new and exciting lighter weight workouts, Pilates and yoga, I ordered the whole dang Slim in Six series from Beachbody.com.
Anyone else have these and like them? I did the Core Cardio Express last night along with the 6 minute ab routine. She isn't Cathe by any means, but it was okay for a 30 minute workout for sure. I just wondered if anyone else tried the series yet? I have both the Express and the regular workouts.

I apologize in advance if we have already beat this subject to death! And no, I am not "wimping" out guys, I just want to stay a little smaller (my diet is good), I have always been very muscular and have lost a little size but retained the definition after my surgery, and I like it.Plus, I get sick of killing myself every workout and want a more gentle approach-at least until Cathe's new stuff arrives!}(

I had Slim Series and sold it. It was alright but soooo long. I just get bored too easily I think and I can't do the same thing for over and hour. It just had too much dread factor for me.

A lot of people had recommended it to me since they thought it was consistent with my goals(lower body focus and 'lean' muscle development.) I just thought it seemed like too long a workout for too little reward. I get better results from my 30 minute pilates videos or from a 35 minute Squeeze premix that I do or from a 16 minute iBallet barre section, than from the 70 minute Slim Series videos.

Just my opinion though and LOTS of people love it.:)

I have Slim Series and although it definately boring IMO, I do believe it is effective. I did P90X and got GREAT results-built muscle, got stronger, leaned out! I followed it up with a Slim Series rotation and got even leaner! They ARE long and they ARE boring but if you can get through it, they are a great addition to a fitness library. The cardio in these work outs is non-existant for an advanced exerciser though so you may want to add some into whatever rotation you decide to do with them.

Good luck!:)

I was speaking of Slim Series.:)

I sometimes like them when I'm not in the mood for a workout. For some reason, I can get into the simplicity of them, even though they are long. It's definitely a plus that you can turn the music off and use your own (something that Beachbody offered way before Cathe). That helps make the workout a bit different each time.

But they are very similar, and I don't think the upper body work is that effective (especially since Debbie does standing "chest" and "back" exercises that are definitely more shoulder exercises than anything else). If you try to follow their suggested rotation of doing these every day, you may end up with some elbow tendonitis problems (I did).

"Firm it Up," which is all lower body, and "Cool it Off" (stretch with some stabilizing exercises) are my two favorites. The others just kind of blend together.

I didn't realize you're talking about Slim in 6, which is a different, more beginner/intermediate program.

I've never used the new Express series, so I can't commment on that.

I do think Slim Series/Slim in 6 workouts are good for avoiding 'bulking', with their no-to-light weight and high reps. I do have issues with Debbie's form on some moves (kicks, and especially deadlifts--which she sometimes does too fast for safety, IMO, and doesn't correct bad form on in one of her backgrounders, who does a whole set too deep and with a rounded back.

I am doing a rotation with slim series right now and am really enjoying it. I add two days of cardio so I don't get bored. I am recovering from a back injury and cannot lift heavy right now. The change is really good for me.
I also had the express series but I sold it. I didn't feel like I got a good workout with them.

I am referring to the Slim Series, not the Slim in 6! Sorry guys, I confused myself here! Thanks for your input, I will give them a try and see. I do however like Pippa's observation about the amount of time and the results with the Series. She likes the shorter, but more intense workouts like I do, which is why I got the express series as well.

Hum, we shall see right? Again, nothing like our Cathe:) I love Cathe's older express series workouts, whatta godsend these are. Hope she considers doing another set like that, shorter, more intense and to the point. :7

I only have the Slim Series. I like the result. It is long and sort of boring, but not unbearable at all. I go with the music as opposed to her movements, she is so off beat that it kills me.
Actually I use them now, every other day. I don't want to follow her rotation, if I did my shoulders were complaining.

I tried a SS rotation but got bored after a few weeks and just couldn't continue. I didn't get rid of them though. They're great for taking on vacation because they don't require much equipment and the workouts don't need much space. This way, I don't have to worry about losing the fitness gains I made before my holiday!

I agree w/ majority- not a high fun factor but effective when used consistently... They are a great break from heavy lifting as well... I just started using my own music in background and that makes it a totally fun workout for me. I also do the floor work on seperate days just because I have "issues" with all floor work! It also makes some of the longer SS workouts more do-able in my mind because at about the 40-50 minute mark I am done with standing.
Just some ideas

I had Slim Series and did a rotation 2X and then the dread factor took over. I never wanted to do them again. I finally sold them. They were fine actually but I got so bored and I don't know why but Debbie just started to annoy me.
