Sliding step....

Beavs

Cathlete
Apologies if this has been asked before.
Since I have all the coordination of Mr. Bean I prefer to do most of my step workouts sans risers. The only problem is that the step slides sideways and I keep having to adjust it. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep it in place as I practice my mad stepping skillz?? ;-)
TIA!

Not a direct answer here, sorry, but I have another suggestion. I switched to the interlocking Reebok step (gray/black) because of the sliding problem with the riser step. The interlocking kind has a grippier bottom so it doesn't budge (at least on carpet---I don't work out on wood flooring) Note though that the interlocking step goes from 6" to 10", so it would be higher than what you're using now.

I finally switched steps about 5 years ago after I hurt my knee on the riser kind. I got tired of sliding so I put carpet tape on the bottom of the step. That worked okay, but was NOT good for the carpet. Then, I found that the step platform would sometimes shift ever so slightly on the risers while I was working out and that tiny shift was enough to seriously tweak my knee.

Not sure if Reebok changed the riser fit to eliminate this kind of motion or not. I have never had a problem with sliding/shifting since I switched.

HTH and good luck--

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Beavs- I have this problem sometimes as well and have found that using a yoga mat under the riser works GREAT!

That is so strange--I got rid of my Reebok step & got the Club step for the exact--or opposite?--reason. There were no rubber grips on the Reebok step at all & it was slipping all over my floors. Maybe they've fixed that since I bought it?

You can try Home Depot--I think there are small sheets of rubber you can buy that have adhesive on the back, so you could cut 4-6 small pieces & glue them to the bottom of your step.

This is what I do too, when I'm using the step without risers. It works GREAT! :D

It sounds like I need to get myself a yoga mat. I wonder why I didn't think of that earlier ;-)

Maybe that's what's bugging my good knee?? The other's already all jacked up, but the "good" one is starting to be bothersome. I've notice the platform "jiggles" on the riser. I will have to look into a fix or a Reebok step. Thanks!!!
