Sleep

There has been some talk on the boards about waking up constantly around 3am and not being able to get back to sleep. I've been experiencing the same thing for over a month now. So last night, I went to bed much later than usual, I fell asleep right after 1am, and slept straight through to 7am, the only reason I woke up is because my cat decided it was time for me to do so. So 6 hours of straight sleep! And I feel great!

I have the GoWear fit, so I can see when I wake up in the night, and I did not at all. My sleep efficiency for those who have it was 98%.

I'm going to try this out for a few nights, and see if it helps.

funny you should mention this, because even though I take a Rx sleep aid I still find myself waking up even before my DH's alarm goes off at 4am! I don't know if I have just been conditioned because he does this 5 days a week for the past 2 years, or what the deal is.. I have tried all kinds of relaxation, TV, no TV, Rx, no Rx, OTC stuff, etc... so I end up getting around 6 hours of sleep per night (even on the weekends) and just doesn't seem like enough... and sometimes it seems that the earlier I go to bed, the earlier I wake up. but last night I went to bed a little later, too (not as late as you) but I think I actually slept better... still woke up at 3am, but managed to go back to sleep somewhat until my puppy decided that her alarm clock would go off... (she somehow knows when it is 6am on the dot, and it's time for breakfast!) :) I do feel that when I get more activity that I sleep better though, so STS and cardio help...

So, hope it works for you and I'm going to try to get some good sleep (maybe even a nap or two) this weekend and start going to bed at 9pm or later next week instead of 7:30! I'm just hoping I can stay awake that long...

keep us posted on how it works!

You know what???? It's funny that you mention this because after yesterday's SUPER early morning (second time in a week), I was thinking about what time I've been getting to bed. And it DOES seem that for me, the times that I am up at 3am and can't get back to bed ARE the days that I fall asleep earlier. May just be a fluke, but I'm willing to test that theory.

If I go to sleep before 9:30-9:45 I invariably wake up at 2:30 and spent quality time staring at the ceiling. But anytime after 9:30 I will sleep right through till 5:15, when I get up.

Weird.

Since we get up around 4:30, I too find myself going to sleep around 8/8:30 and then being awake right at 3 AM. This has been going on for years. Unfortunately, now I find myself tossing around until about 11:30 or 12 and having to be woken up at 4:30 :(. So many times I find myself picking up the phone to go to the doctor's and get a Rx for something, anything, to help.

Do prescription sleep meds help? Did you have to try different ones before you found one that did work? I've taken every OTC, Unisom helps but since the active ingredient is in the antihistamine family, I'm so dried out...

I started taking Lunesta 3mg about 3 weeks ago and it helps some what. Some days I sleep 7 hours and some days I sleep 5, but mostly it is 7 more then 5. I guess it is better then no sleep.
