Hi everyone! As some of you have read my son and his buddy tried to do thier first jump last weekend and were put on weather hold. Very dissapointing! So off we went again yesterday for them to jump!
I swear I was more nervous/excited for them, then they were themselves. Once they were fited into jumpsuits and harness I swear it was all I could do not to cry! I was literally sick to my stomach. My son is a very witty guy and he had everyone cracking up and having fun. Then I notice he seemed a bit off and I went to him and said "no one would think less of you if you change your mind " To which he replied " mom half the fun of this is to be a little nervous and scare, I am fine ". He will be 24 Wednesday so I had to just back off and be afraid for him but at the same time excited!
So next they head to the small prop plane with the instructors and up they go. The people who work there were so nice. They kept us informed and updated. We had about 20 inutes befor they would be jumping. Oh my was that a long twenty minutes. I looked at the other mom and said "did you ever think we would be staring up at the sky waiting for our kids to fall out of it "
So then they announce that the guys had left the plane and we continued staring up and soon here they came! It was a very exciting moment and as my son got closer he was waving and being a goof ball as usual. Next came the actual landing. His buddy jumped first and so he landed first and his landing was fine. By this time I am more calmed down and just really happy for them. Them I see my son and his instructor are coming to fast! My heart fell and I had a panic moment when they hit to hard and rolled. One of the cathchers yelled to me that he was fine and I was welcome in the landing area. He was fine except for a banged up knee (nothing major) and was grinning from ear to ear. Both guys were and they were thrilled to have done it!
As a mom I am very proud of him and happy it was the thrill he was looking for. He said the scariest part was leaving the plane. After that he says you just feel like you are floating and it was a blast
The fast landing was not even bothering him..it's just one of those things when dealing with wind etc. Now they want me to try it! THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! Anyway thanks for letting an excited and proud mom share this. He is my only child so I do get very emotional
Oh and one of the guys that work there said to me " hey you look like you work out" Jumping burns calories. I just smiled and said uh huh nice try I aint going up!
