Skirt rant

What is up with the long skirts? Geez! I have a wedding to go to in July and I've been looking through my Newport News and Victoria Secrets catalogues to see if they have anything I might want to wear. All I see is long, flowing skirts. When did this happen?

I thought when a country is in a recession, skirts are mini's because you can't afford the fabric in longer skirts. Was that just a myth my mom told me about? LOL!

Debbie,

I went shopping last week and came home empty handed because I couldn't find a thing I wanted. I even told the sales clerk that none of the summer clothes this year are the least bit enticing. I don't like the colors, the style, the quality...nothing! It was interesting because I had been there about 3 weeks before and the same clothes were still there. It looks like they haven't moved much mercahndise at all. *SIGH*

Yeah, I don't know what is up with the skirts either. I just bought a long one...doesn't mean I like it...just for the job, ya know. Really dislike skirts and dresses, but the skirts are either long, split in front or jagged along bottom. And there seems to be more of them in different shades of brown too.

Blame it on Janet Jackson. Everyone else is. ;-)

The Gap has a couple cute pleated linen skirts that fall right above the knee.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the official end of the last recession was November 2001. Since November 2001 lots of economic indicators have markedly improved:
Real GDP has grown by 14.8 percent.
The unemployment rate has fallen from 5.5 percent to 4.7 percent
4.1 million new payroll jobs have been created.
The S&P 500 is up 24 percent.
Corporate earnings are up 67 percent.
Manufacturers’ new orders are up 31 percent.
Private sector non-residential fixed investment is up 33 percent. Federal income-tax receipts are up 12 percent.

I live in California.

Editing to add that my intention was not to start a debate over the state of the economy. If you believe we're in a recession it's no skin off my nose. My original post was to explain the long skirts using the method of assessing the economy that you mentioned. That's all. Seriously, I don't post here to debate issues! And I truly hope you find a skirt you love!:)
