<sigh> Giving up on Rykas

Is it just me, or has there been a significant dip in quality during the last 5 years or so? Maybe they're being made in China now?

The last pair of comfortable Rykas I owned were the KM6s, which aren't made anymore. I've bought 2 more pair over the last 3 years & both of them feel like combat boots. The leather (pleather?) is hard & inflexible, the padding leaves much to be desired, & the arch is so high my feet are in pain within 10 minutes of putting them on.

I guess I'll just have to stick w/my Nikes & Adidas, seems like you can't go wrong w/them--they're like wearing clouds. But I am so disappointed in Ryka--I want to support them b/c they sponser Cathe, & I had high hopes for them b/c they make stuff exclusively for women, but it seems they've gone down the low road & become more about profit than about making superior products for women. x(

I can just never get the right size with them. I bought a 6 a couple of years ago, and they ended up being too big. Then, about 6 months ago, I got a size 5 1/2 (my actual size), and after wearing them a few times, realized they're too small.

I bought a pair of Saucony running shoes in size 6, and they fit perfectly. I'm planning on buying a pair of their cross-trainers next.

As far as Ryka's go, I did meet the woman who formed that company about 10 years ago, when she spoke at a conference I attended. I think she sold the company a few years back.

Laura - I noticed that too. I had a pair of running shoes that I bought in 2005 and which I STILL wear for trail running. Best darned running shoes I ever had. The pair I bought recently weigh twice as much and are no where near as cushy (even after 2 years of running, including several 12k's and training for a half marathon) and actually hurt my knees. I ended up switching for a pair of Muzinos, but I may go back to my Nikes.

I too have given up on Rykas. I just cannot find the right size to fit my foot snugly but not too tight. I also have really, really disliked the look of the recent styles they have produced. I think they are ugly on the foot but I'm kind of weird about how my workout shoes look... so it could just be me. :)

I think I have just the wrong foot "type" for Ryka shoes. For my wide feet, nothing matches my New Balances.

I know New Balances aren't that "sexy" of a brand, but they feel good on my feet.
