chest congestion and I know I can't workout:((asthma),but was wondering if I do take a couple of days off would i lose my "endurance".I just don't want the excersices that I've mastered to be hard agian.

also, thought about doing some scretching! shouldn't bother me too much!

Thanks for all responses!

Amy

In my personal experience I have not lost my endurance due to taking off a few days due to illness. Even if I did, the alternative of running myself into the ground and eventually needing to take even more time off is not too appealing. Rest... and don't worry about it.....and feel better soon!

Thanks for the replies ladies,I always beat myself up when I don't workout(even when Im sick and can't),gotta work on that!

I have asthma, too, so I feel for you!

I find that my endurance is actually better after some time off. Of course, if I've taken 2-3 weeks off, I have to start back up with a few "warm-up" workouts - at least the strength training ones.

As an asthmatic, after I've been sick, those first few cardio workouts are a little tough, but before long I'm right back into the old swing of things. You just have to work through a few days of guttin' it out, and then you'll be fine.

One more thing: Muscles have memory, so it's much easier for them to get back into their old shape after some time off.

I was just wondering how do I know I'm ready too work out agian,I know a stupid question but,i started taking antibiotics mon. night and felt great tue. and here it is thursday,I'm not coughing anymore!I do however cough to clear my throught(have drainage,I know, gross!)but, thought about working out today! Hate to take a chance of that congestion coming back though! My chest isn't tight anymore and the weezing is gone,What do you guys think!

Amy:)

p.s Funny story, ok,I have been married for 6 yrs, moved out when I got married, but whenever I'm sick,My mom(bless her heart)calls me every couple of hours to just check on me!secretly I think she calling me to make sure i'm not workingout!(remember, have asmtha, had a hard time with it when I was young)! gotta love her!

Well, speaking from experience (I'm still recovering from a bronchial infection and had to take 11 rest days in December:eek: ), I would give yourself a couple more days. Although your symptoms seem to be gone, you don't want to risk aggravating things and having them come back.:)

Thanks shelly
guess I won't workout x(.
Today is the fith day,I'm going stir crazy:eek:!last time I worked out was last saturday, and that was only a brisk 40min walk plus a abbs add on!

Amy:)
