Good morning, Violets! :) I posted an update last night in the previous thread, so I am just getting us started for the new week. Have a great one! It will be a fun Cathe week for me. :7 I just finished 3 weeks of the Hardcore Series, and I want to play with my favorite less intense Cathe workouts. I am ready to get started this morning with Step Fit. See you later!

Heather, How can you NOT get fit doing a work out called Step FIT, right? ;) :7 I know you enjoyed that one! Good for you. :)

I have Yoga on tap for today. Sundays are normally my rest days but this week in order to get yoga in it's got to be done today. That's okay though. Sometimes I don't want to rest on my rest day anyway! LOL

My calves (especially the left one!) are sooo sore from my work out y'day! That stinkin' machine at the gym killed 'em! LOL I've been doing the calf work in the X every time and even with light weights (which is odd for me) yet this machine still did a number on me! YOWZAS! }(

So DH and I went out to dinner and to a comedy show last night. It was fun. The tix for the show were only $10 a piece. The show was 1 hr 20 mins long or so. It was sooo worth it! The comedians, ofcourse, were not Howie Mandell calibur but for the money you couldn't beat it! We laughed. :7 Dinner was yummy. We went to Carrabbas. I cringe at the thought of our calorie/fat intake but I have learned to suck it up and live a little. I am NOT going ruin years of watching my diet and exercising with the occasional EVIL meal!:9 }( :9

Wendy, an occasional splurge is not going to ruin all your hard work unless your occasions are too often (like mine). I have sweets on occasion, now if I can just spread out those occasions to be once a month instead of every other day, I might actual lose weight. LOL

Heather, glad to see you spirit is back up. Finishing out your 12 week program with a fun week, sounds like a good plan.

No work out for me yesterday or today. Yesterday was planned rest. Today is "sucks to be old" rest day. Last night I started to feel a pinch in my hip. It's not a constant twinge, but when it kicks in it kicks in good. I don't know what happened, I celebrated my birthday quietly, so that my body wouldn't notice, but I guess it realized it was another year older and thinks it's time to fall apart. Hopefully an extra rest day will help. If not, more upper body workouts out for me again. If this keeps up, I will have nice sculpted arms with a jiggly lower body.

Shrinking Violets Check-in

I had another delightful day. My cycle still has not started, but I decided to rise above my PMS and have a great day anyway. It is amazing how powerfully a positive attitude can change how I feel.

I slept later than usual this morning. I woke up feeling energetic and decided to do a Cathe cardio workout after my quiet time. I wanted something fun and not too intense, so I chose Step Fit. It was perfect for today. Cathe is so cute and funny in this workout from her sheep comment to calling us Tootsie Pops, and I love the flying angels, power mambos, dancy cool-down, and soothing stretch. :7 This is definitely one of my happy workouts, and I am feeling the Cathe love again. :7 I looked radiant after my workout. My skin glowed! :)

I had to take my car to the shop to get a flat tire repaired and decided to do some spontaneous shopping while I was out. I desperately needed a new swimsuit because my old one is hopelessly stretched out of shape. The top does not have enough support anymore. I am not a big fan of brown, but I was drawn to a 2-piece set with brown shorts and a tank top with pink, lime green, brown, and white stripes. It reminded me of Cathe’s Stretch Max outfit. Brown is not one of my best colors, but I decided to try it on since the pink and lime green stripes would be close to my face. Wow! I stood there in total awe because this swimsuit made me look great. :7 The tank top has a V-neck that reveals a modest amount of cleavage, which is more than I usually show. Of course, that just draws attention away from my big butt! ;-) The swim shorts have a snap and zipper and are very stylish. They fit better than my other swim shorts. I tried on several in the same size because the pattern was a little different on each one. The first one I tried was the winner. The dominant stripe pattern falls right across the center of my chest. It makes my chest look larger and gives the illusion of an hourglass figure. The tops with that same stripe pattern across my hips made me look larger. Needless to say, I bought it on sale! A swimsuit that makes me feel beautiful when I am premenstrual and bloated is quite a find! :7

I needed new Ryka aqua shoes for my water jogging workouts, so I went to Academy and was delighted to find them on sale too. I also found coral and periwinkle workout tops on sale at Sports Authority. Coral and periwinkle are great colors on me. This was a very successful shopping weekend. :) I found everything I wanted, and the first thing I reached for was perfect every time. Everything I bought was on sale too. :)

I have one more week of fasting chocolate and cheese. I bought an organic dark chocolate bar today in anticipation! :9

I stopped by the grocery store tonight and picked up a few things. I am so happy tonight! I have so much energy and need to bounce on my rebounder to unwind before bedtime. :7 Have a blessed week!

Wendy, I agree with Jean. Enjoy treats in moderation. You work hard for them!

Heather, sounds like you had a wonderful day. I am not a shopper but if I had a shopping day like yours, (finding everything you needed and having it on sale) I might change my mind. Oh, I forgot to tell you this past week, the blue bonnets have started to bloom. I've only seen a few, so I'm hoping more pop up. We are suppose to get some rain this week so maybe that will bring some more out.

I'm exhausted. I've been doing things around the house today (stuff I've put off way too long like declutter and organizing) plus the regular weekend chores like laundry & cleaning. It was a very productive day but it wore me out. DH thought I was mad at him because I'm grouchy. I need to go get some sleep.

This morning I got up and did GS legs Timesaver. Hip twinge is gone, but I was afraid to do cardio and make it start up again. Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi everyone. This morning was walk/jog outside. It was still dark and the morning was so still, it just felt wonderful to be outside. Through the darkness, I heard an owl who was still up and a duck who must have been an earlier riser. Strange combo, I know.

Well I saw the road trip info posted. Anyone planning on going? I want to, but I won't be at a computer Friday morning. I hope I can get a spot later in the day.

I am sooo going on this year's RT! I wanted to go in 2005 but my son was just born and we didn't have the extra cash to blow, blah blah blah. This year I am going come heck or high water and I will be at my computer at 5 minutes to 12 on friday just to be safe!!!!:7 :7 :7 :7 :7

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Yesterday was another Monday. My cycle did not start, and I was bloated and extremely tired. I did have a blast with Step Works Monday morning. It is a super fun workout! I love the choreography from the fun warm-up to the funky cool-down. Figures 8s are among my favorite moves. I like the first combination, but I adore the second combination with the power mambos and the full circle turns. Cathe’s creative choreography makes this workout an hour of non-stop fun. I love the fast and fun pace of this workout with little time spent teaching and breaking down the combinations. It is not dancy, but it is full of fun moves. Step Works is definitely in the same league with my beloved Rhythmic Step. It is just as much fun and much more intense. It is definitely another one of my happy workouts that made my PMS blues more bearable. Step Fit is more comparable to the step segments of Cardio and Weights in terms of complexity and intensity. Step Works is my favorite workout on the Cardio Hits DVD, but I still love Step Fit too (and especially the cool-down and soothing stretch).

I bounced on my rebounder last night and watched Dancing With the Stars. I miss Emmitt Smith! Cheryl Burke is still my favorite professional dancer on the show.

I am still waiting for my cycle and starting to wonder if I am going to have one this month. I was feeling a little blue this morning. Thankfully, Supersets is a fun workout with great music. Nothing like a little Cathe love to kick the blues to the curb.

Speaking of Cathe love, she posted the official Cathe Road Trip announcement today. I read it during my lunch hour and jumped for joy! I am so excited! I hope I can get online Friday morning to register. Some of the people I was hoping to meet have already shared that they will not be able to attend this year. I am disappointed, but I am still planning to go. God will provide roommates and all that good stuff. I could have worked my schedule around any date in July or August, but I am so glad Cathe chose an August weekend. That gives me more time to get in shape, and August is my birthday month too!

I bounced on my rebounder for a few minutes tonight. The gentle bouncing comforted me and made me smile. It must be like rocking a baby.

Is it Friday yet? I am tired and ready to call it a day. This has been such a long week. Tomorrow is a new day. Hopefully, I well feel better and get some relief from this PMS bloat and fatigue.

I had a dose of Rhythmic Step comfort after my quiet time this morning to welcome the official first day of spring. I waited too long to start wearing new shoes, and I am paying the price for it. Oh, my aching feet!

I received a phone call from my church early this morning. A friend died unexpectedly late yesterday. Her husband found her in their bed. He is a trauma surgeon, but there was nothing he could do for her. She was already gone. I just found out that she was depressed. I wish I had known. She was such a good friend to me when I was battling intense depression. I have fond memories of the night she made me come over to her home and play dress-up with the wild clothes in her closet. She could make me laugh even when I was in the pit of depression. I am not sure if an autopsy will be done or not, but I am hoping that she did not take her own life. Depression is hell. This I know all too well. Please pray for her family. Her husband and her son are having such a hard time with this. Her memorial service will be Friday afternoon.

My cycle still has not started. I have no appetite. The sight and smell of food has been nauseating and repulsive to me all day. I had chills this afternoon and hope I am not coming down with something. I had a hard time keeping my dinner down. I did not actually throw up, but trying to eat was a challenge. I kept gagging. I finally gave up on the pasta, went to the mall to pay a bill, and ate a small cup of frozen yogurt. It was good.

I am going to bounce on my rebounder for a few minutes and call it a day. My Needak rebounder has a nice mat that soothes my aching feet when I bounce gently on it. A warm bubble bath and a restful night of sleep will be nice too.

Good Morning Violets.

I ended up taking a rest day y'day due to this nasty cold I have. I will see how I feel after work today. I am hoping to be able to do SOMETHING but I'll have to see.

I am up stupid early this morning cause of this cold so I will definately need a nap before I even CONSIDER a work out later!

Well, the countdown is on to the RT sign up! WOOH HOO!!!!!}( }( }(

Heather, I know you got in...have fun! I hope to not screw it up next year! If I don't make it then (which will be my 3rd attempt) then it's just not meant to be! x(

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning! This has been a long and emotional week, but I am feeling so much better today. It is amazing what a night of restful sleep can do!

After my quiet time Thursday morning, I enjoyed one my favorite happy workouts just for fun. I had a blast with Step, Jump, & Pump. It always makes me smile!

Yesterday was my rest day. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. to practice my speed typing drills in anticipation of signing up for Cathe’s Road Trip. Yes, I did. I had a game plan too, and it worked for me. I have been dreaming about this Road Trip for over a year and a half and cannot wait to experience it. I felt like a child on Christmas Eve Thursday night. I woke up with butterflies and was anxious and excited. The Road Trip sold out in 3 minutes, so I feel blessed to be one of the 105 women who gets to attend. What a joy! I have been coasting for a few weeks, and this is the burst of inspiration I need to get back in the race. I am disappointed about not getting to meet everyone. Shelley is planning a trip to Dallas next year, so I will get to meet her then. I am hoping that Wendy and the others who live in New Jersey will crash the party!

I enjoyed the stability ball segments of Total Body Stretching after my quiet time yesterday morning. My cycle finally started too.

My friend’s memorial service was beautiful. The immediate family had a private grave side service early yesterday morning then gathered at the church with the rest of us to celebrate her life. I was wondering if crying was out of style because everyone was so emotionless. Everyone but me. I was a crying ball of tissues on the back pew. My pastor reminded us that grief is healthy and normal. He shared that he cried himself to sleep every night after his little girl was killed by a drunk driver (when she was 6 years old). I love my pastor. He is so real. The service ended with us singing “Days of Elijah” and some good old-fashioned Southern Gospel music. It was very uplifting.

I bounced on my rebounder for a few minutes last night to unwind, slept like a baby last night, and woke up feeling refreshed. I finished my first 12-week Cathe rotation this morning with Kick, Punch, & Crunch followed by the planks and abs from Kick Box on the Ab Hits DVD. I am planning to start a FIRM and TLT recovery week next week. After Easter, it will be time to start training for the big weekend at Cathe’s place.

Wendy, did you catch the hint about you crashing the party?!

Heather, I am so sorry to hear the loss of your friend. Prayers to you and her family.

I'm glad you got some good news to help you through your week. After reading about your loss and not seeing a new post, I was afraid you hadn't gotten signed up and I know how diapointed you would have been. Glad it worked out.

Heather, I'm looking forward to meeting you there. Wendy, I'm going to miss meeting you. I was so hoping that you would there too.

Hi Heather and Jean.

I've booked a room at the Fairfield Inn (one of the RT hotels) for that saturday to sunday so I will be there to meet and hang between activities! I will probably get a day pass to Cathe's gym as well. I'll be coming with another Catheite who was not able to get an RT spot. We'll definately have to hook up at some point, ladies! I'm very excited!:)

This morning I got up and did LIC's lower body circuit premix. It's not the greatest lower body work out but it was fun and I was sweating so I was happy. My cold is on it's way out I am happy to say. I'm not 100% but I am on the mend!:)
