Shrinking Violets Check-in for February 25-28, 2007

Good morning, Violets! Happy Sunday! It is a new week with a renewed vision, and I am ready to take on the Hardcore Series for the second time. I will be celebrating my 40th birthday 3½ years from today. By the grace of God, I am hoping to be in the best shape of my life on that day! It would be fun to be in better shape at 40 than I was at 20! :7 I can definitely get there with Cathe’s workouts.

I did not get to sleep until midnight. I woke up at 7:00 a.m. and spent some time feasting on the Psalms. After the conference yesterday, I want to focus my reading there for a season. I bought a CD yesterday with Beth Moore’s favorite songs of deliverance. I am ready to bounce on my rebounder and enjoy it followed by Stretch Max. My flexibility was so much better when I was doing Stretch Max on a regular basis. I am hoping to do the whole workout twice a week. I may eliminate the first segment that is not my favorite, but I will give it another whirl first.

I need to go to the grocery store after the worship service this morning and hopefully enjoy a nap this afternoon.

Good morning all.

Well I was going to count yesterday as my rest day, but DD switched apartments so we spent the day moving her out. All those stairs, so many times counted as a workout. Today will me be my official day of rest.

Kali, my mom has black widow's at her house. Some are the size of quarters. They creep me out.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm off to church.

I don't have much time. Just wanted to check in with my work out. I rested y'day instead of going for my run so I ran today. I went to the gym and did a new Itread work out I just bought. It's all sprints! Then I ran at my own pace until I hit a total 5 mile run. Great work out!}(

DID A WO!!! DID A WO!!!!!

I managed Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Xtreme, and then BM2 abs. I have not done a WO at all in atleast a week. It felt so good to do one today. My eating has been good today. I have not been eating enough all week, but doing alright today.

Sorry I have been gone. Lot of issues here. I miss you guys. I will hope to continue this trend of daily WOs again. Hopefully I can do some yoga tonight. I have like 3 new ones to do!

I did an Itread y'day. It was 25 minutes of sprints. I kept on going after it was over to make it a 5 mile run in total.

Today is a short Cathe cardio and yoga. It's day 1 of the second recovery phase for the X!}(

This morning I got up and did a heavy mish mosh of upper body. I can really feel it in my arms as I try to type.

I read your post in the <--thread about HSTA. Thanks. I wasn't going to ask for it back until the end of the X but if you are done with it that's fine too ofcourse! Glad you enjoyed it, girl!

So do you have any reccomendations for good yoga dvds for me?? Athletic style though, please. I'm not into the spiritual type at all. I have one that I got for Christmas and I just can't stand to do it. It makes me nuts! LOL I have Yoga X ofcourse and Baron's Slim and Lean. I like both of them alot. I'm looking for something short...30 mins or less. :) TIA!

Did you create your own work out this morning or was it a Cathe mish-mosh that you did? If so which work outs did you use?
 
So I did LIC w/u, 4 step combos only, c/d and stretch with the chickens this morning! I started at 6:15am! I can't believe I did it with out killing myself! LOL This afternoon I did Baron's Slim and Lean Yoga. There was no time for X yoga today. I like it but it's just sooo long!:p

I have a gained a few pounds in the past couple of weeks and I am not happy about it. My belly is bigger. UGH! I think part of it is the approaching TTOM but I'm sure the rest of it has to do w/my horrid diet as of late! Too many unclean meals!x( Soooo...to remedy this I have decided to add a little cardio every day this week in addition to the X recovery work outs. This is my schedule for the week:

Tuesday: 20-30 min run + Core Syn
Wednesday: Step class at gym in lieu of Kenpo
Thursday: 20-30 min run or 30 min Cathe cardio depending on how much time I have in the morning + yoga in the evening
Friday: 30 min cathe cardio + core syn
Saturday and Sunday: REST since I'll be in atlantic city! I'll be eating badly no doubt! :eek: }( :eek:

I am hoping this stretch of extra cardio helps to combat more weight gain from the weekend of eating to come as well as helps to me get rid of the extra pounds I am currently holding on to!

My upper body workout was on my own, but based on PUB exercises. I did each of the exercises from memory, doing 3 sets of 12 reps with as much weight as I could handle for the 12 reps.

Shrinking Violets Check-in

I had a delightful Sunday. I bounced on my rebounder yesterday morning and did all three segments of Stretch Max. My flexibility was so much better when I was doing Stretch Max on a regular basis. I am hoping to do the whole workout twice a week. The first segment is not my favorite, but I enjoyed it yesterday morning. I skipped a few of the poses that are not comfortable for me. I love the music during the floor stretches. This is a relaxing and restorative workout, and I am looking forward to enjoying it every week.

My feet were starting to hurt, and I knew that it was time to replace my beloved Nike Shox cross training shoes. I went to Academy yesterday afternoon, tried on countless brands and styles of shoes, and settled on pretty pink and white Reebok cross training shoes. They were $49.00 as opposed to $99.00 for Nike Shox. They are cushy, and I am hoping that they will work for me. I am trying to save money for the Cathe Road Trip. No matter how expensive my shoes are, I still need to replace them every 3-4 months. My Nike Shox Turn and Go cross training shoes survived 4 months of intense use. I have an extra pair of those that I bought last year. I am hoping to extend the life of the new pair by alternating them with these new shoes. I want to save my Nike Shox for workouts like Drill Max. I have a pair of Nike Shox Rhythmic studio training shoes for Rhythmic Step and a pair of Nike Air Max Hava dance fitness shoes for IMAX3 and Low Max. IMAX3 has some dancy choreography with pivots and reverse mambos, so I need dance shoes with pivot points. I have a different kind of Nike dance cardio shoes for Kari Anderson’s dancy hi-lo workouts. Can you believe that I have special shoes for special workouts?! I need an intervention!

Glory! If you heard a shout of joy coming from Central Texas this morning, it was me! I am finally back on track with morning Cathe workouts! After pondering the Psalms, I did the boot camp challenge premix on the Kick Max DVD for the first time. What a blast! This is definitely a feel good workout. I was higher than a kite after the blast challenge (which I did on my rebounder to protect my joints). After the warm-up, Cathe launches right into the high intensity blast segment (like a mini IMAX without a step) and wraps up the workout with the kick and punch combinations followed by a soothing stretch. This is my favorite kickboxing workout. It is one of my favorite Cathe workouts of all time. It is fun, fun, fun! I am pretty much alone in my love for this workout, but it makes me so happy.

I felt so good after my first intense morning workout in almost 2 weeks. I had a song in my heart as I was driving to work, the grass was greener, the sky was bluer, and the sun was brighter! Intense cardio is the best antidepressant I know.

My eating was clean today. I started packing my meals and snacks again and replaced the soy protein with an organic yogurt smoothie this afternoon. I am planning to eat an organic boiled egg tomorrow night. My energy was consistently high all day. I am definitely in tune with what works for me and blesses my body.

I enjoyed a peaceful day at the office with my boss out of town. I went to the club after work and jogged in the pool with Rebecca. We had a powerful prayer time together in the steam room. That is our prayer closet at the club.

Cathe shared that she is planning to film more than one series of new workouts this year! I need to start saving my pennies if I want to preorder new workouts and attend the Cathe Road Trip.

My meals and snacks are packed for tomorrow. It is time for a warm bubble bath and a restful night of sleep to recharge for Muscle Max.

Heather, glad to hear you are back in your grove. It sounds like you are just a morning person and need to get you exercise in first thing to make you day work for you. I'm not one that does well with evening exercise. I just love the way I feel all day after a good workout so I'd rather have it done and over with first thing.

This morning was 30 min on TM. Still workin gon speed so I did my first mile under 10 min. and then switched to sprints. Lots of sweat. Yeah.

Wendy, I am with you on the extra few poounds from the weekend. I also did a bit of alcohol drinking too, so I know that didn't help. Lorajc sent me Kimberly Fowlers Yoga for Athletes. You would like it. It is longer then 30 min though. I will ask her to pop over here with more suggestions. I REALLY like Rainbeau Mars. SHe isn't too spiritual. I have her Yoga for Beauty Dawn and Dusk. I love how they heave bonus WOs that are like 10 or 15 min, and they are perfect. You can choose your segments for shorter WOs too. She has other ones too. I think you might like her. SHe does talk a little here and there about stuff, but nothing major or annoying, or *wierd*. No really off the wall poses or moves. I say give her a shot. She is on deepdiscount.com too. I know you like that one!

Morning to everyone else. I would like to do B&G, but I really need some cardio today. Maybe a circiut.

Hey Meg.

I looked up Karen Fowler's Yoga for Atheletes and it appears to be what I am looking for aside from how long it is so I'll probably go for it! I also searched Collage and found something called Budokon: Beginners Practice. I read the description and watched the clip and I think I'm going to buy that one too...it looks interesting! It has 2 separate work outs of about 30 mins a piece which is great. They both end with a short meditation but depending on how I like that I can always skip it! :p Aside from that it doesn't appear too spiritual for me.:)

Yes it has been a while but my plate has been mighty full these days! I got a treadmill and have started jogging some and trying to get back into Cathes workouts. I really missed talking to you ladies!

Maeghan,how do you like Amy Bentos hi/lo? I ordered it tonight and it sounds really fun! I also order Jari loves Get ripped 1000. I will mix them in with Cathe!

I will talk to you ladies tomorrow!!
