Shrinking Violets Check-in for April 8-14, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Violets! Happy Easter to all who celebrate and a blessed Sunday to everyone! I’m dreaming of a white Easter! It snowed in Central Texas all day yesterday! The beautiful bluebonnets were wearing big white hats. I wish I had my camera with me yesterday while I was out playing in the snow because it is already melting. That is Texas for you. If you do not like the weather here, just wait 5 minutes! It does not usually snow in Central Texas. We get ice storms, hailstorms, and tornados, but not snow. I was delighted to see snow yesterday. It was the highlight of my day.

Now that my Good Friday mission project has been accomplished, it is time to start officially training for the Cathe Road Trip! My game plan involves a 16-week fat blasting rotation that will get me through the end of July. I know myself well enough to know that I will be too excited to focus on anything other than shopping for new clothes and shoes when August arrives! I am planning to focus on 2 weeks of workouts at a time. This is my general game plan:

Sunday morning - step or interval step + abs/core (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - stretching (Cathe)
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)
evenings - jogging in the pool or rebounding as desired

I was hoping to start this last Sunday, but my body was too tired to move after a week of sleepless nights during my recovery week. I did bless my body with more sleep last week and starting feeling alert and oriented again. I got my Cathe fix with Low Impact Step and Total Body Stretching, and I started running in the pool at the club again. I also did a few sessions of rebounding, but it was another active recovery week other than that. I decided to get back on track with my sleep schedule instead of going through the motions of my workouts. I am glad I did because I am ready to enjoy Rhythmic Step before church this morning. Oh, I dropped the 4 pounds I gained the previous week. I am officially 50 pounds below my top weight and 80 pounds above my goal weight. My before pictures are in my photo album, and Cathe is waiting for me!

My game plan for eating involves planning menus a week in advance and packing my meals and snacks every night for the next day. I see consistent results when I do this. I decided to enjoy one treat meal or snack every week. Of course, all my efforts to enjoy a treat yesterday were completely frustrated. I think God was trying to tell me something. See this thread if you want a good laugh:

Hi Heather and all who follow.

Heather: Best of luck with your 16 week fat blasting rotation! Can't wait to meet you in August girl!:D

I did CF through the power circuits and arx. Good work out. Week 12 of the X is complete! Tomorrow I begin my final recovery week and the I am DONE!!! I'll be an X grad! WOOH! :7 :7 :7

I am having a cup of coffee and then I have to eat something. We are leaving for my mom's in about 30 minutes. We will have an early dinner with her and then head up to SIL's for dessert and coffee.:9

Have a Happy Easter!:)

A Happy and Blessed Easter to everyone.

The past couple of days of have been busy. Friday after work, I went to pick out a puppy. They are 4 weeks olds. It was so hard choosing which one. I can't believe Dh finally gave in and is letting me get another dog. Our other dog really does need a playmate since the old one died and now she will get one. I'm very excited. Then yesterday was non stop. First we went to breakfast with my BIL family and surprised DH's niece with her grandparents. Niece had come in town for a bridal shower we were co-hosting last night. So we flew dh's parents in, hid them in a booth at the restaurant and after she came in and had been there a few minutes, showed her who was in the booth. She was so excited. Then it was back to the house to finish up plans for the shower. The shower ended up being more of a family getogether, because we had the husbands come too since several came from out of town and that gave more time for everyone to visit. Didn't get back home and to bed til after 11. Then it was up early for church. Dinner is in the oven.

Some how I have managed to stay on schedule with the April rotation. Week 1, done. Today is a rest. Even with the party my eatng has been ok (except for the breakfast buffet yesterday) Who am I kidding. I forgot about the trillion Peanut M&M's that the Easter Bunny brought. Oh well, tomorrow I will be back to healthy eating. Easter only comes once a year.

Heather, how exciting about all the snow. We just has flurries for a couple of minutes.

Wendy, congrats on your X completion. I want to hear about your results.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter with Family and Friends. Don't eat too many chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.

It's either yoga or core syn for me today!

It's day 2 of the FINAL week of the X! WOOH HOO! I'll be taking pics this week. I have decided that I will most likely put my before/after shots up for folks to see if they are interested but I don't think it will *ALL* of them. Just the best shots! ;)

I am starting a BBC rotation on monday. I hope I like it!}(

Awesome Wendy! I can't wait to see them! I am sure you look fab! It seems like te X went by fast for you!

I am pretty sore from B&G yesterday! I wonder if the DOMS will be getting worse as the day goes on!!!
I hope to do UB today, and yoga. I need some cardio, but my legs might not agree with that LOL!!

AMAZINGLY all 3 kids here are sleeping, so I took full advantage of the peace and quiet and did the WHOLE ENTIRE Rainbeau Mars Yoga for Beauty Dawn WO. It was wonderful. Plus my triceps are really sore from yesterday?? LOL! If I am home later, I will do some more UB, or maybe a little TM. But I am so happy I got to yoga, with NOT ONE interruption. I feel so good! Off to shower while I still have a chance.

Maeghan, glad you got some time to yourself. Enjoy. Hope the Yoga helped with the Doms.

Wendy can't wait to hear aobut your results.

Today's workout did not work out so well for me. I thought I was suppose to do upper body on the April rotation but when I checked my list I realized that's tomorrow. Since I already did some upper body work yesterday, I couldn't just sub it in. Today was suppose to be HCE Interval Blast, but I only did 20 min. My mind was stuck on upper body and just couldn't get into the step. May try to do the rest tonight.

QOTD: How many different threads do you usually post on regularly? I have a hard time keeping up with the 3 I do(2 here and 1 on WW), but I see some names over and over and wonder how other people keep up with it. I forget what I said on one and then wonder if I'm repeating myself on the same one & if I'm missing things on the others.

Jean

Good Morning Meg.

I'm here! I sometimes forget about this thread because it's small so it drops to the bottom of the page alot and I don't tend to look that far down! LOL

Great work out y'day! Have fun w/whatever you decide to do today!

Well, the results are in on the X! I decided not to wait until the end of the recovery week to weigh/measure so I did it this morning. I was feeling thin!;-) So I've lost 1 pound, just about 1% body fat and 4+ inches overall. My numbers are not big but I did not start out with a whole lot to lose in the first place. I am happy with my results. My clothes are looser and I am tighter and definately more defined! I am also stronger! My waist is smaller then it is has been in YEARS AND YEARS AND...well, you get the picture and I have definition in my abs that I have NEVER had before!!!

So today is supposed to be a spin class but ofcourse it's cold, raining and windy out there. It's nothing short of miserable which sends my motivation to go to the gym down the tubes. Especially knowing I have to take poor Joey with me!:-( I may very well use this as motivation to stay in and get a Cathe fix instead!}( I also have yoga on tap for this evening.

I'll be back!:)

I just did BC, but I did not do the leg segments. I am stilll really sore in my inner thighs, but and hips from B&G on MONDAY! I then did Yoga Shakti, supine poses and foward bends and twists. I can't believe how tight my hips are. They are usually very loose, but I guess it is good that I did this yoga today. I feel alot better now.

Hey Meg and all who follow.

Meg, Good job on BC!

I just finished Low Max. I was supposed to spin this morning but the weather here is beyond lousy so I decided to be a shut-in!:p I stuck with a leg burner though so I am happy. }(

I have to go out in about 30 mins though. I have a meeting at work that I can't miss. ACK!

Off to the showers!

BBL!:)

Good evening everyone. No exercise for me today. I worked a 13 hour day today and just didn't have the time.

Not sure what's planned for tomorrow. I will probably do PLB which was on the rotation for today.

I'm hoping to get my new puppy this weekend. I need to bath the other dog and clean all the dog beds so they will be fresh for the new one. Need to throw out the tornup toys and get some new ones. Although I'm sure she will tear them up any way. I can't wait to see what my other dog is going to act like when she meets the puppy.

Jean

Jean,

Awwwww a new puppy! How great!:) I remember when we first got my dog! He was 3 months old. He ran right up to me and started licking my fingers. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with him!:+

I posted my X results a few posts above if you are interested.

Have a great day!!!

Good morning. I am not sure what WO I will be doing today. I should do some cardio, and more yoga. My butt is feeling much better, so maybe a little LB today?? I will let ya'll know of course. I tell ya, I must have been a little dehydrated cuz two days of cardio blew me up like a balloon! My body held onto all the water. I was disgustingly bloated last night. So I am pounding the water. Well, after my tea of course.

Jean- a new pup?? I have been thinking of a dog lately. But it has to be trained and be able to go out on its own to play and pee and all that. I live in the country so it works out well that way.

Wendy- EXCELLENT job! You have convinced me even more to get the X!

Good morning all. Nothing for me today, my tummy is not so hot.

Wendy, nice job on your results. Now for the ulitmate queston, did you take pictures? I'm not asking you to share them(unless of cours you want to), I was just wondering if you like what you see, because you have mentioned before that you don't usually like pictures.

Maeghan, I hear you on the dog issue with one already being trained. I know I've got my work cut out for me. This one will be mostly outside as a companion for our other dog since her buddy passed away a few months ago. She will also become my second jogging buddy. We will house train the puppy though so she can come in occassionally. And this one is going to be so good. She will not chew things up that's she not suppose to. She will not dig up the yard. She will not bark too much. And I'm sure if I click my heels together, turn around 3 times and close my eyes real tight all of the above statments will come true. Dang, I should have added that I would loose 10 pounds to the abouve statements, before I clicked my heels.

Oh well back to reality. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jean

No pics yet Jean but I do intend for DH to take some soon...

I just finished MIC's hi/low and ARX. Now I have to hop in the shower and get ready to head up to my MIL's. I am dropping Joey there for the weekend...

Have a great day!

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning, Violets! I am sorry that I have been missing in action this week. I battle SAD, and it hit me hard this week. I do not usually struggle in April as this form of depression is triggered by lack of light. Of course, it does not usually snow in Texas in April either! The cold and dreary days that hit threw me for a loop. My body thought it was winter. I also had an extremely stressful week at work and crashed back down to reality after my Good Friday high. I was too tired to move by the end of each day, so I blessed my body by going to bed early instead of checking in. I woke up in the middle of the night a few times. Thankfully, I invested in a light box last year. After sitting in front of my light box every morning this week, I finally started feeling better last night. I thought I would actually sleep through the night. My neighbors had another wild party last night, so I have been up since 1:00 a.m.

I persevered and pushed myself through my workouts this week even though I was tired. It was not my best performance by far, but at least I did something. I started my 16-week fat blasting rotation Sunday morning with my beloved Rhythmic Step. I did the Butts and Guts abs and stretch segments Sunday evening, and I enjoyed my beloved Butts and Guts leg blast premix Monday morning.

Tuesday morning, I had a blast with the Body Max 2 cardio and weights premix. Fun, fun, fun! Body Max 2 is still the crown jewel of this new series. I love the choreography in this workout. My new Reebox cross training shoes did not feel good during the warm-up, so I returned to my Nike Shox Turn and Go cross training shoes. Perfect! I have special shoes for special workouts. It is funny how different choreography flows better and feels more comfortable with different shoes. I will be having a serious shoe crisis when it comes time to pack my bags for the Road Trip! Cathe will think I am a nut if I change shoes during one of her live classes! My butt was sore from the Butts and Guts leg blast premix, and my abs were super sore from the Butts and Guts abs that I did Sunday night. It was hard to do the Body Max 2 ab and core work Tuesday morning. I coasted through part of it.

I did Cardio Kicks Wednesday morning. After a long day at work, I was looking forward to jogging in the pool with Rebecca. I drove home during my lunch hour to pack my bag for the club and forgot my beach towel. I drove all the way home after work, grabbed my towel, and rushed to the club to meet Rebecca only to discover that management chose that day of all days to drain and resurface the pool. While I was at the club, I observed a few minutes of my friend’s cardio boot camp class. Oh my! She had the class outside in the parking lot doing high impact moves like jumping jacks on the pavement!

Thursday morning was Drill Max. Oh my! I have plenty of room to grow with this one. The push-ups and dips on the stability ball are still out of my league. I can do a few if I modify by resting the ball next to my sofa to keep it stable. I also modify the last drill by placing my hands on my step platform for the squat thrust move. That small modification makes a big difference.

I relaxed with Stretch Max yesterday morning. I am planning to do Kari Anderson’s DanceWorks this morning followed by Jen Carman’s Strength in Movement. Friday and Saturday are basically active recovery days for me.

I packed my meals and snacks every day this week, so my eating was very clean. I knew I was dealing with depression because I was extremely tired even after taking naps, exercising consistently, and eating clean all week. I also had no appetite and was extremely emotional and sensitive about everything.

I am hoping that Cathe finds time to film Rhythmic Step 2 this year! I am disappointed that she is no longer planning to film it with the 4-day split as originally planned. I also prefer the original 4-day split that was going to have 2 days of upper body and 2 days of lower body. I use parts of the CTX Series all the time, so I am sure I will enjoy the cardio segments if nothing else. I also love Push Pull and Supersets. If the new 4-day split has a similar format, I will enjoy it. I love the Slow and Heavy Series. Those are the only heavy weight training workouts I have ever enjoyed. I will get more use out of that series and the sequel when I get closer to my goal weight. My body sheds fat with cardio and circuit training. I am not sure about the boxing series. I will see what Cathe shows us in August. I definitely do not have room for a heavy bag. My workout room is my living room. I do not have a coffee table as it is. I am not selling the rest of my furniture! My living room is already decorated with a step, a high step, risers, weights, and a rebounder! As for the digital workouts, I will see what Cathe produces before I decide about them. I do not have an iPod yet and do not enjoy weight machines or cardio machines. It she does an outdoor walking or running workout, I might like it. Of course, Cathe has a way of making me love workouts I never dreamed I would enjoy!

Have a blessed Saturday!

Maeghan, congratulations on the promotion!

Wendy, great job with your rotation results!

Jean, please share pictures of your new puppy!

Blessings,
Heather B.
