Shrinking Violets Check-in for April 1-7, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Violets! Happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. Happy April Fool’s Day to everyone else. For those who are attending the Road Trip, can you believe that we will be working out together and enjoying our Sunday morning brunch 19 weeks from this morning? I am starting a new rotation this morning and decided to plan my workouts for 2 weeks at a time. Since recovery weeks do not work for me, I am returning to 5 days of Cathe workouts every week with a rest day and an active recovery day (a Kari Anderson or Christi Taylor hi-lo workout or some other form of gentle cardio plus a TLT) as well as running in the pool at the club a few nights a week. Mom and her husband are planning to spend Mother’s Day weekend with me. That gives me 40 days of super clean eating before they arrive so I can enjoy a few treats during my vacation with them. This is my general game plan for my Cathe Road Trip rotation:

Sunday morning - step or interval step (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - rest
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)

It is time to flip your Cathe calendar again. I love the “Work, Work!” motto for this month. That is exactly what I need to do. March was not a good month for me. I finished my recovery week yesterday, and I am so ready to return to my beloved Cathe workouts this morning. My name is Heather. I am addicted to Cathe cardio. I have withdraws when I do not get my fix. Cathe can put me on permanent preorder.

By the way, I fasted chocolate and cheese for 40 days and did not drop a pound. I gained 4 pounds during my recovery week and gained an inch in my chest, an inch in my waist, an inch in my abdomen, and an inch in my hips. I enjoyed a few treats this past week, so my eating was not as clean as it has been. Feel free to give me a kick in the butt. It is not really necessary because I am good at falling on my butt and bouncing back again. The party is over. It is time to start training for the Cathe Road Trip. My weight and measurements have been recorded. A friend and I are getting together early this morning to take progress pictures before my morning workout.

This is the dawn of a new month. Spring has arrived, and bluebonnets are blanketing the beautiful Texas landscape. (I added a picture of bluebonnets to my avatar for everyone to enjoy!) I am ready to break free from this fat cocoon. Yes, it is time. Saddle up your horses and get ready for a great and glorious adventure. Come along if you dare! Let’s train hard this month! Some of us are training for the Road Trip, and all of us are training for life!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Good Morning Violets!

Heather, So I see you are already beginning the RT count down ey? LOL I am excited and I'm not not even a true RT'er! I just can't believe I am going to get to meet everyone!:7

I went to a B'day party y'day and ate like chit. I am going to Palm Sunday dinner today and will undoubtedly eat like chit again. Somebody please sew my mouth shut!!!!:7 :7 :7

Have a great day!:)

Heather- I just read your post, and can I just say, thank you. THat is exactly what i needed to hear. I need that kind of motivation. My life is a disaster right now, but if I can just keep up with my fitness, it will help me make it thru. I am so happy I read this today. Start of a new month and season.

Wendy- I went to TGIF last night and had 5 Sex on the Beaches! Boy were they delish! I am doing the bday party thing today. YUK! But yuk won't stop me from shoveling that cake in my mouth LOL!!

Hello, Violets! I thought it would be a good day to check-in with you since it's April Fool's Day. :7 LOL! I am BelovedHeather's friend. :) I just took her progress pictures this morning. Taking pictures of Heather every month is my new hobby. :7 LOL!

I am hoping to get on board with Cathe as soon as I open the box. Heather took me to Target last June to buy the Cathe step and DVDs. They are still in the box. No, this is not an April Fool's joke. :7 I previewed Kick Max at Heather's place and want to know if Cathe knows she is not a rabbit with all that jumping she does. That girl bounces around like a bunny rabbit on crack! I'm scared of Cathe! Thanks for letting me join the Shrinking Violets!

I am a slow shrinking Violet, but there is more of me to love. ;-) I do not shrink as fast as the rest of you. I will check in again.

Heather looks so good. :) She is shrinking, but her shoe collection is growing. My next hobby is to do a shoe-vention! :7

Happy April Fool Day to all.

I got up this morning feeling very energetic and did all of Cathe's new series(minus Cardio Fushion) back to back. I just finished. APRIL FOOLS. I can barely get through 1 sixty minute DVD let along 4 long ones.

So for the real story. I got up went to church, where they announced our beloved Pastor will be reassigned to another parish in August. Not good news, this priest was amazing and will be missed horribly. Then I came home and continued my cleaning from yesterday. I wanted to squeeze a workout in, but I had to go into the office so no exercise yet.

Welcome Rebecca. Heather told us you may stop in sometime. As for Cathe being a bunny rabbit, I agree, that girl can jump. It's like she has springs in her legs. As for starting Cathe, don't be afraid. Just do it at you own pace. It takes time to learn the moves and to build up some endurance. When you get winded (and you will get winded) just take it easy. Try each week to go a little further or a little stronger and soon you will be spinning and dancing around the room like the rest of us.

Heather, better watch it with the shoe purchases. It sounds like Rebecca may be your shoe police.

Maeghan, you sound stressed out right now. Just try to take it one day at a time.

Wendy, thanks for explaining about finishing the X instead of starting it again. Let us know your results.

As for results, I weighed and measured yesterday since it is the end of the month. I lost 1 pound and 1/2 in off my waist. Slow progress. If I want to loose some more pounds by the road trip, I better get a move on. I'm thinking of trying the April rotation. It looked like something I might be able to stick with. Kind of followed what I do on my own, so wish me luck.

Jean

Today was GS Legs. Will try to do the abs portion of the rotation onight. I had jury duty selection this morning. did not get picked so I am off to work. Will check back later.

Jean

Morning Girls!

Meg: Oh girl...I gotta go to TGIF with you! You know how to party girlfriend!}( :7 :9

Rebecca: Welcome to our little check in. Have fun!:)

Jean: Jury Duty...yuck. Are you happy you didn't get picked? LOL

I did CS&T y'day but didn't have time for ARX so I will do it today. I usually work legs today but I am toying with actually doing Plyo-the work out that is actually called for today (LOL!)! I haven't done it in ages and today is the LAST time it's called for before I FINISH the X!!!! WOOH!:7 :7 :7

Have a great day girlies!;-)

It was Plyo and HSC abs for me today. I didn't really have the time for ARX, nor was I in the mood for it. I really like HSC's ab work though! Plyo was hoppin'! LOLOL :p :7 ;) :D

I got my brandy new step platform today!!!! I see a step work out in my future *REAL* soon!}(

Good night all!:*

Good Morning.

I am still sore from CS&T on monday! For this reason I may change up my work outs this week. I have back and biceps on tap for today but may do legs and back instead. I am also considering a short run after my shift at work this morning...

Have a great day.:)

Good morning. My calves and hammy's are sore from LIC. I was very achy in all my joints last night so I didn't get much of a WO in. All the kids were sick, especially my niece. After a day of nasty diapers and puke, I really needed some "fresh air" time so I went to my cousin's for awhile after the kids went to bed. I was in a very foul mood. PMS too.

So I am going to play the WO by ear today. I have to go pick my sis up on the Mass Pike somewhere. I hope to leave here around 10. I will WO later on. I want to spend time with her too.

Wendy, have a great run. I am so looking foward to spring when the weather STAYS nice so I can run alot more outside.

Wendy, congrats o the new step. Have fun with it.

Maeghan, sore to hear everyone is sick. Hope you don't catch it too.

Hi to Heather, Kali and Kim.

I'm following the April rotation. Yesterday was Stepblast with abs and today was GS C& T's. I subbed a 30 min jog/walk for the cardio bonus.

Gotta run. Lots to do this week.
Jean

I am done with Legs and Back. I can do unassisted chin ups! WOOH! I am sooo excited! I never thought I'd be able to but the X has proven itself as I am now able to do it! YES!!!!}(

I opted out of a run this morning as I plan to take spin in the morning and will run on saturday...

Well, off to the showers with me!

Toodles! :)

Meg, Hope you and your boys are all feeling better today!

Jean, Have fun with the April rotation! I am thinking of doing Cathe's May rotation...I'll have to see what it's focus is!

Wendy,

Congrats on the chin ups. I used to be able to do those when I was in high school. I know I would not be able to do any now though. Great job.

Jean

Hey Jean and all who follow...if ANYONE follows! LOL

Jean, I was the most unathletic thing goin' in highschool (and WEAK too)! LOL We were able to pick what we wanted to do in gym class each marking period (seniors got first choice so freshmen usually got the cr@p!)out of about 4 choices. I always tried to get things like archery, aerobics, square dancing (I kid you not-it was a gym class in a NJ school! WTH!?!? LOL), and the like so that I didn't have to play a sport!:p There is no way I could have done a chin up back then! :7 :7 :7

My cardio for today was all step combos of IMAX 3 and half of the combo is IMAX 2. No blasts. Nice light work out. Felt good and was about all my DOMS'ing lower body could handle! Man am I sore!!!!}( }( }( Yoga is gonna hurt sooo good tonight!;)

ETA: I got the barbell (bar only) that I ordered the other day! It came so fast! It's 13-14 pounds on it's own! I have about 30# worth of plates...I'm thinkin' that will be plenty!!!:)

BBL!:+

Yoga X is done. I did 60 mins out of 90...good enough I say!:p It felt great on my sore parts too!:D

Tomorrow is Back and Biceps and ARX...I get to have more chin up fun! WOOH! I was checking out my back in the mirror tonight...I have some nice definition goin' on! I'm a happy girl! Thank you Tony! You are my hero!!!!!:* LOL

Have a great night!:)

Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning, Violets! Happy Good Friday! I shared in previous posts that I would most likely be taking a break from the forums this week. This is my biggest week for ministry every year, and I usually step away from the computer to spend time in focused prayer.

Several years ago, a few friends from my church family decided to step outside our comfort zone and leave the safety of the church building to celebrate the Easter season by demonstrating the unfailing love and amazing grace of God to women who have often known nothing but perverted affection, abuse, condemnation, judgment, and rejection. Instead of sitting on a church pew in a pretty new dress, each of us decided to get out in the world and be the love of Jesus to these women. I prayed the first year while a few friends went into the men’s clubs and delivered gift bags to the dancers, waitresses, bartenders, and bouncers. I went into the clubs the next 2 years, and it was the most amazing experience. I have such a heart for women in bondage. It is my deepest desire to inspire women to rise above their circumstances, pursue their dreams with a passion, and be all they were created to be. One of the greatest blessings in my life that has resulted from experiencing so much shame and rejection in my own life is the supernatural ability to love people unconditionally. I do not look down on these women or think I am better than any of them. One of the reasons I was chosen for this ministry is because I love these women without judging or condemning them.

Many of these women come from abusive homes. Many of them are single mothers. They are living a tough life. One of them was still dancing when she was 8 months pregnant! Most of them dream of getting an education or otherwise breaking free from their present reality. When one of the girls shares her dream of going to college, it is such a joy to speak hope into her dreams. Several of the dancers have completed nursing school or some other form of higher education and told us last year that we would not be seeing them again because they graduated. The girls love us and look forward to our visit every year. They tell the new dancers about us, and our arrival is greatly anticipated. They literally jump for joy like little children on Christmas morning. This is likely the only time anyone gives them a gift without expecting anything in return. The pretty pastel gift bags are filled with costume jewelry, decorative barrettes or hair clips, makeup, perfume, body spray, bubble bath, bath gel, body lotion, candles, Easter candy, gum, inspirational books, and similar items. We also include a beautiful lavender scroll with the story of Mary Magdalene, a stuffed angel bunny, and Christian literature if they are interested in finding out why we love them so much. Some of them have expressed an interest in visiting our church family, and we want them to know without a doubt that they are welcome just as they are. We love them unconditionally and will receive them with open arms. We want to give these precious women something that makes them feel beautiful and loved by God.

This will be our fourth year to venture into the clubs. We trained new girls this week for the club ministry, so I will be praying in the parking lot while they go into the clubs. Our church family blessed us financially this year, and we have enough money to expand our outreach. It took us 4 hours last night to pack 180 gift bags! That is more than twice as many as we have packed in previous years. One of my friends is delivering gift bags to a shelter for homeless women this morning. After the club outreach, we are splitting into two teams. One team is planning to deliver gift bags to the women and children who are living in the family abuse shelter. Since I am a woman of faith and more or less fearless, I have been asked to step outside my comfort zone and do a street ministry this year. God has opened doors for us and led us to a “tour guide” who is familiar with the streets and knows where to find all the prostitutes on a Friday night. Because of the nature of this outreach, we will be out much later at night in a very dangerous part of town. This ministry has always involved an element of danger, but it is much greater for me this year. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated especially between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. tonight.

I was originally planning to start my next Cathe rotation on Easter Sunday because I anticipated what this week would be like. As anxious as I was to get started this week, I was tired after all the sleepless nights during my recovery week. I did enjoy Total Body Stretching and Low Impact Step this week to get my Cathe fix but otherwise rebounded, jogged in the pool, and prayed fervently. It looks like I will be starting my next rotation on Easter as originally planned.

I have a busy day ahead of me and a long night of ministry. I will most likely check-in again tomorrow. Love and hugs to everyone.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Shrinking Violets Check-in

Meg: That is sooooo awesome-congrats girlfriend! Did they hire you or was it a vote? I know it's a volunteer fire dept but I am not sure how they do that kind of stuff.
