Shrinking Violets (Challengers) Hump Day 7/19

Fit_mommy

Cathlete
Hi Challengers!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

So the DOMS is layering itself onto my lower body! I love it!}( I already had a bit and then yesterday's elliptical w/o must've been a good one cause now I have MORE!:+

I have weights on tap for today as well as cardio. I may do only u/b today and do l/b tomorrow or friday. I am dying to hit the TM today. I have to walk around and analyze my knee. If it seems okay, I am going to try it. I can always keep it short if I need to.

I am getting ready to download my first HOUR long Itread work out! I am excited to take the challenge and face the torture and see if I can survive it!}( I'll certainly make sure my knee is 100% first though. :)

The heat is disapating a bit...we had a big storm blow through last night which cooled it off some. I think it's still going to be in the upper 80's but it shouldn't be quite as deadly!

Alright..I've babbled enough! It's someone else's turn now!:p

Challengers/Shrinking Violets Check-in

Good morning! I have not been checking in because I have not been getting my workouts in until late at night. I really need to get back on track soon. My body is not happy with this schedule!

I did the cardio and weight circuit premix on the Low Impact Step/Total Body Sculpting DVD Sunday morning. It is a fun workout. Even though it is not as intense as Cathe’s more advanced workouts, she still adds her signature moves that I love like all the mambo cha chas and pivot turns. The choreography is not basic and boring like I would expect to find in a workout designed for beginners. I am looking forward to Cathe’s new workouts. I hope she is able to film them in August. I still want to buy the Hardcore Series as a bundle someday, but that will be a major purchase. I have plenty of fun workouts to keep me entertained until the new ones arrive.

I did Kick, Punch, & Crunch Monday night for the first time since March. After doing Timesaver 4 last month, the full workout is really intense. I love it! The pikes on the stability ball are still way out of my league. I am looking forward to being able to do my first one someday.

Cathe kicked my butt last night. Mercy! I did High Step Training for the second time, and it was just as tough this time as it was in March when I did it for the first time. It is way harder than Boot Camp. The cardio is not over the top in intensity, but the upper body work is far more challenging. And all those leg presses! I modified as needed. High Step Training is not destined to become a personal favorite. It does not have the same fun factor as Boot Camp and Step, Jump, & Pump. Not to mention, I need better music to energize me for super tough workouts. I prefer the more choreographed and less athletic workouts in general. Boot Camp is the big exception. It makes me realize how important music is to the whole workout experience. I want to do this again as a morning workout before I give up on it completely. I was tired before I started last night and might like it better when I have more energy. Cathe is very warm and encouraging. Her personality is the only reason I want to keep this workout in my collection. I am not sure if I want to push myself through High Step Training again next week or substitute Boot Camp instead. I will decide when I get there. I will know without a doubt that I have made amazing progress in my fitness journey when I am finally able to get through this workout without modifying anything.

Wendy, take care of that knee. Are you planning to post challenge pictures this week? Where is Heidi?

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Challengers/Shrinking Violets Check-in

Hi everyone!!! Once again I'm still alive and well. I have been keeping up with my workouts but my life has gotten very busy. My sister and i decided to go into business together for one thing. It was a very anxious time on mine and dh's part. We really took it all in and decided to just go for it. So we are now partnered up with my sis and her dh. Whew!!!! There is so much to do to get this thing up and running. Basically it will be for now and ebay store which coresponds with the store her and her dh run down here where we live. In the process of all of this my dh and I are remodeling our back room into an office. We are actually getting a huge desk delivered today. Plus the fact that he is still wrapping up school. Two more weeks. Yeah. Anyway I am still here but very busy. I love all of you. Karen

Xschwarz, hope those doms are starting to lighten up. I like a good doms, but not a crippling one that turns into several days. Ouch.

Wendy, temperature dropped into the 80’s? Better get out your sweaters, LOL. Is Itread like Cardio Couch?

Kali, hope the xrays show nothing serious, but maybe find something that can be relieved.

Sunnydelite, great job on the 3 miles yesterday. I’m working on the better eating too. It just is so hard.

Heather, great workouts. Keep up the momentum. Hope you get back to the schedule you enjoy. I know if I workout at night I can’t sleep.

Karen, congrats on the new business. Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

This morning for me was GS legs. It really proved how much I had gotten away from weight workouts. Had to modify here and there, but felt good.

Well I’ve gotta run and get my hair rinsed out. “Gonna Wash that Grey right out of My Hair” Hello to all who check in later.

Happy Hump Day Ladies!!

Wendy- the weather is a little better here too. I was able to shut the AC off and let some air actually into my downstairs! It's still hot tho. So glad you have DOMS settling in! Are we nuts or what???
I do the same thing w/ my knee. I start something and see how it feels. If I don't get any serious pain (which I haven't thank goodness) I keep going. I just modify some jumps and blasts for fear of how it will feel later. At least I'll know something in a few days.

Heather- glad you're enjoying your Cathe wo's so much. She IS encouraging. I love wo's with lots of choreograpy too. Reminds me of dance class which I will be starting again in Sept. if my knees are ok. :)

Cool news on the new business Karen! That is awesome. I wish you guys lots of luck! We love you too!

Sue- how are you feeling? DOMS subsiding yet?

Thanks Jean. From what I've read online and what my symptoms are, I'm thinking it's going to be tendonitis or something to do with the tendons. Hopefully it won't be anything bad. Not being able to do cardio and legs is not something I want to think about.

Well I'm off to do Kickmax. Starting week 2 of Butts and Guts. My knees feel good. The only thing I'll modify or even skip all together is the blast challenge. I'll see how it goes. I love the Leg conditioning drills tho. Reminds me of ballet class.

I shall let you know how I make out.

Shout out to SD and Annabelle!

Kali

By the way Heather,

I have found over and over through trial and error that Cathe is by far the most motivating and inspiring fitness instructor. I love how someone like yourself prefers the "more choreographed, less athletic" style while I crave the athletic, high intensity aspect of Cathe's workouts. Although I love them all!!

Keep up the good work Heather. It's a lifestyle!

Let's hope today's the day Sue! You can do it! Great workout by the way!

I DID IT! I got thru Kickmax entirely w/ minimal modifications during the Blasts! WOO HOO! And my knee feels fine! YEAH!

How did you make out Wendy? Did you get thru it?

What's everyone up to this afternoon? I'm going to eat, (finally) clean the upstairs then I'm out by the pool.

Talk to you guys later hope everyone is well.

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Heather: Nice to see you here again. Isn't KPC fun!? I really like it. It's not easy but it's fun so that helps you get through it!}( I have to take my final set of pics tomorrow. No one else has talked about posting pics/stats but if everyone else is up for it, I'm game!:) I am still battling the damage done on vacation so my results will not be what I would have liked but that's okay. Life is going to get in the way wether you like it or not, right? All we can do is try our best! ;)

Hi Karen, I wrote to you in the Cheetah check in! :)

Jean, Yeah the 80's! WOOH! Feels like winter! LOLOL Yes, ITrain is a series similar to CC only formatted a bit differently. I previewed them both and took more of a liking to ITrain personally.

Kali, Glad you had a good work out! Still got those windows open?

XSchwarz, Great work out girl!

So my knee was still a bit "off" this morning so I downloaded a 40 min ICycle work out and gave it a shot. It was fun. I did it on a regular stationary bike today but will have to try it on a spin bike in the future! I also downloaded a 60 min Itread work out that I am anxious to try once my knee is all better. This morning before heading out to the gym I did the push pull u/b 2 set premix. I am definately saving L/B for friday and ofcourse, still have ab work left to do today...LOL

Just popping in to say hello before I head out for the evening but no one seems to be around...Ahhh well, I can talk to myself...Lord knows it won't be the FIRST time!:p

So DS is going to be spending the night at my mom's tonight and then tomorrow I am heading up north with them to visit my sister and her family for the day. Since I will not have DS in the morning I am really hoping that my knee will cooperate and allow me to get in atleast a mile or two run outside in the morning. Keep your fingers crossed for me, girls, okay? :)

Well, I'm off to see what else is happening around this forum and then I gotta take off....

Have a great evening, ladies!:+

quick late check in ladies...

this morning my alarm didn't go off for the second time this weekx(
so i woke up an hr late. jumped out of bed determined to workout.
so i did a lowerbody workout from a muscle & fitness hers mag. my first time ever doing this. i thought for some i couldn't but i did!! i have DOMS already.

looks like everyone had a great day and workout.

hopefully i will be able to check in earlier tomorrow for some personals.

good night all:)

Sunnydelite, great job getting a workout in even though you got up late.

Wendy, good luck with your run in the morning. I plan on joining you outside in the morning. Right now it is 9:45 pm and it is still 94 degrees outside, so it will be a hot, sweaty one for me. Also I'll be trying out a new contact. Went to the eye doctor today and she wants me to try mono vision.

Good night all

Jean

Sunny: I think it's time you went out and bought yourself a new alarm clock!:)

Jean: Our heat wave is over. It was pretty nice out today...hot, don't get me wrong, but not deadly and tonight it was gorgeous! Tomorrow morning should be nice for a run providing I get out there before 8am!

Well, off to bed with me!

G'night!:)
