Jeanne ~

Awesome room. Two things: are the "puzzle mats" on ceramic tile on a concrete (basement) floor or an upper level floor? If they're on ceramic on concrete, are they resiliant enough for high impact and if so, may I have the name brand of the mats?

We're designing a weight/fitness room in our new house. We want to put in the basement which is HUGE (30 x 60). We plan to do a 15 x 15 aerobics floor so I'm doing some reasearch. Thanks for any info you can share.

Very creative and intelligent use of the space you have available. Your fitness log is very impressive. Where do you find the time to do all you do??? Incredible!

Okay...here is mine. It is still not quite finished. We still have to add mirrors on one wall and I have a few pictures to hang on the opposite wall. One picture is the Marilyn Monroe one where she is on a weight bench and the other one is of Rosie the Riveter flexing her biceps.

Pinky ~

Thanks for the link to great mats.com. We're designing a weight/fitness room for our new house and I'm researching floors. I would LOVE a floating hardwood floor like Cathe's studio! A girl can dream can't she!?!?

Hi Kim,

Thanks!

Yes, the puzzle mats are over ceramic tile, which was placed over the concrete basement floor. I have TWO layers of the puzzle mats though. One layer is not enough for high impact, but two layers is perfect!

I honestly don't remember the brand name, but I bought them at Home Depot. This was about 3 or 4 years ago, but I would guess that they still have them. They came packaged in fours. I have all gray on the lower layer, and then the multi colored ones on top. I have been jumping up and down on these for years now, and never a problem! They are so easy to clean too... I just use my Hoover Floormate like I do on my tile floors.

Good luck with planning your new room! :)

All right, that's it! After seeing all these fabulous spaces you ladies work out in, I'm commandeering the basement. It's a nice bright airy room that we rarely use (except my SO who does his modelling down there, but that only takes up a corner).

There is berber carpet on the floor. Should I get puzzle mats to go over top? Or should I rip up the carpet and put in a floating wood floor? Suggestions?

Shonie: very nice!! hey, do you ever use that bike? i hadn't heard you mention it before....i am still thinking about getting one eventually.

Shelley: i love my puzzle mats. they really saved my feet from the evils of tile floors. i got mine at walmart for $17 per pack and each pack has 24 sq.feet. excellent investment.

i think i will paint this week ladies. anybody want to come help?

jes:)

Hey Jes --

Nope. Hate the bike! I USED to use it all the time before I got the treadmill. Honestly, it chafes my ass and there's nothing much worse than a chafed ass x(

You can have it if you want to drive up here to dallas and take it off my hands!

Sorry...you're on your own with the painting! I'll have my hands full with my new house (well...new to me anyway) mid-June. Gotta do something about the FISH wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom! First...it's WALLPAPER IN THE BATHROOM!!! Come on people...no more wallpaper in the bathroom, OKAY?! Just say no to wallpaper in the bathroom (not sure why this bugs me so much...but it does). Second -- FISH? Really...BLUE FISH? All over. Gosh! Kids really shouldn't be allowed to have a say in the decor :p

See ya Jes (oh...I wish that I had jessie's girl...(just popped into my head).

LOL! i know! the ONE time i did a spinning class, my butt hurt for a week. i went out and found some of those padded bike shorts, but i never went back. it conflicted with my step class;) i'm just crazy. unless i convert my guest room into another workout room, i have no room for any other machines....thanks though;-) besides, i don't think i could get it on a plane!

wall paper is such a pain! i'll take painting any day! sounds terrible:eek: is it the house you had the pics of?

Thanks, Kim.:) I'd love a floating hardwood floor, too. But that'd really, really be pushing it. When I started working out, my son was only 2, so I had to hide all my db's and bb plates under the bed. Of course, I used light weights then so everything fit under there.

My son is older now and can somewhat understand how important exercise is to me. After all, he's in OT, all of which is done at a gym. He knows his body needs it, and can associate such need with my workouts. So he plays on his own while I'm working out. Hubby has also been a big help. I wouldn't be able to work out otherwise.:)

>Just wondering if you use the (I think they're called Pro
>Bells) adjustable DBs for your Cathe workouts and if so, how
>do you like them?

Kim ~ Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It's been a busy day here. You know, I don't know the name of my adjustable dbs. Do I have to walk downstairs?! :p If you want the name I'll get it for you, but I do use them. Mostly, when I do the pyramids as my regular dbs only go upto 15lbs. The adjustable ones start at 20lbs. and it's nice and easy because there's a pin I simply pull out and go to the next weight. I don't know how the dial up ones work. Could you go to the fitness store and try it out?

Jeanne ~ I have the black tiles on the floor. We have two layers as well. They do wash up really nice. Not that you would know that from my picture! I guess it's time for a cleaning.

I would like to get some sort of rack for the dbs like Shonie has. I'm always afraid the kids will drop them on their little piggies! Maybe it's better they stay on the floor.

I forgot who had the cool beads hanging down. You all have really personalized your space. I never really put much thought into it. I've been busy working on the rest of the house.

have a good night!

Bun Bun,

I can completely relate to the "stuff" issue! We have one whole room that is just for Stuff! I have to go in a clean it out about 3 times a year! Needless to say the Salvation Army loves me. :) Good for you working out in such a small place! I think I'd probably injure myself the way I flail around. The landlord would wonder what all those body shaped holes were in the walls!
