Show us your Workout area!

Oh man, Jeanne! I am soooo jealous! That is exactly how I want my dream workout room to look!! So awesome!!

How expensive is expensive, by the way??? :)

Aww Wendy--He is just too precious! It looks like Clyde is going to be one protective "brother"! You'll never have to worry when he's around.

You only gained 35 lbs during your pregnancy?! WOW good for you! I know a lot of people let themselves go using the "eating for two" excuse! You'll have no problem at all losing the extra 10-12 lbs!

Congratulation on a job well done!

Thanks Janice! :)

I just asked my DH if he remembered the exact total for the mirrors. We did my room during a home remodel/addition, so of course it was included in the total cost. He recalls that the actual invoice from "Builder's Mart" for the mirror part was around $2000.

I don't know if you can tell in the pictures, but we had those mirrored bevel strips installed all the way around the top and two end sides. Those were about $500 alone. There was also some custom cutting they had to do to fit around the glass block window.

Oh, and I already had one of the larger pieces of mirror in my old workout room, so the actual cost for this room of mirrors would've been higher if we hadn't reused one piece. It was used on the long wall and is about 6 feet high and 8 feet wide. So... basically, to mirror and bevel strip 3 walls like we did would be upwards of $2000! HTH! :)

OMIGOD Jeanne! It's decided. I'm going to sell my apartment and move to a house. I HAVE to have a workout room like that. Plus, I would save a fortune on my gym membership.

Jes, We've had the squat rack for years. I think that along with our 1st treadmill was our first fitness buy. My dh and I were both gym rats. In fact, that's how we met. I'll ask him though. To be honest, I really only use it during BC because I have the other barbell set up for arms. I probably should use it more! I'll ask him about the sq. footage. too.

Wow, Jeanne I love how bright your work out area is. We just had the upstairs and the main floor painted. Maybe I should reconsider the basement. Is that just white or off white on the walls? I like the colorful floor mats, too. I don't think my dh would go for that since he uses the work out room too. The mirrors are nice for checking your form. That was my dh's idea too. I thought he was nuts when he told me he wanted to put mirrors in there.

Enjoy the day! It's beautiful here! I think I'm going to go for a run!!!:)

Thanks for the compliments! :)

The color of the walls is actually a very, very light lavender. I think it's called "Serene", which of course tells you nothing about the actual color. You can tell better that it's a lavender color when you compare it to the white baseboard in the pictures.

I have two layers of the floor mats. On the bottom is the gray, and on the top are the multi colored ones. Dallas, if your DH objected to the multi colored ones, you could always just use the gray all over.

Laura, I'm with Shonie. Is that Marilyn doing a bench press on your wall? How cool! I have never seen this particular photo, but she was intriguing & to have this in your workout room is "different." I love that. A little bit of artsy. A little bit of glam. Tied into the fitness scene. You go girl! Now, I'm getting ideas.

Shonie, I was going to say it's a mute point to show pics of your workout area, but then, yes, let us see what you have used to get into your magnificently buff self up until now. Then later, we will expect pics of your new fitness domain.:7

OK, after that stunning example of how beautiful and serene a workout area can be, I couldn't resist taking pics of the tiny mess that I call my "gym." x(

Here it is, with no prior tidying or cleaning done beforehand to make it look like I'm actually neat. :( Honestly, the BF and I have so much stuff between the two of us that there isn't a square inch of the place that we don't use for storage of some sort or another. I didn't take pics of my treadmill--it's too close to my bed, and there are too many boxes stored all around it--too embarrassing!

One day we'll move out of NY and get a place that can actually look nice.

Oh! You are so wrong flaunting that gorgeous workout area to us!!!:p :p :p :p :p

Jeanne!!! It's fabulous! When can we come work out with you?

Marla

Awww! Bunbun, if you do grapevines & figure eights in that tiny area, all I can say is, "YOU GO GIRL!" That shows such relentlessness, & commitment! Not only that, the best part about it is, that is YOUR space.

Marla:)

Thank you Marla! :)

I have to tell you, I thank the good Lord for my blessings every single time I go in there. It's my stress relief and my motivation. I have the best DH in the whole wide world, as he is the one who made it possible for me to have this room.

Yes, OF COURSE, you all have a standing invitation to come workout with me anytime! :D (Don't get lost on those country roads in north Georgia trying to find me! :p )

You all are inspiring me to paint my room sooner! ya know Marla, i love the blue in your room..it's very calming. But i may go with the paint i already have that is NOT calming b/c i am thinking i need more pep and less calm! i think i will do two walls the color of cathe's top in HSC and one wall the "red" i just painted my hallway. also, each of these walls have huge windows, so i need to find a fabric that matches everything. another reason to shop!

i love the mirror walls, but i could never have those as long as i am sharing my workout area with my dogs! i would spend the whole workout stopping to windex some nose print:* i would go mad! (der):+

To me, the blue has always felt cooling, but I'm fighting with my "queer eye for the straight guy" DH to let me use red drapes. To me, that would look amazing! I have seen those color combos on Vogue, I tell you, and they are beautiful! It would symbolize my blood, sweat & tears, right? He just won't give in.

I also have to mention, I am artistically, decoratively, and musically impaired. That's why if he says no, then I hesitate.

Marla:eek:

Hi Marla. I actually take the purple yoga mat and lay it out on the carpet, between my computer, the kitchen counter, and the refrigerator/stove behind me. It just fits. Then I put the little high step on top and use that. Call me the queen of modifications. I can fit grapevines in (just!), but triples around the step and such get turned into basic steps to keep my heart rate up. Love Low Max--don't need much room to exhaust myself. :) Mostly I do cardio on my treadmill, though, so the small aerobic space isn't a problem. Plus, when I do weights, the BF doesn't care that I take over 3/4ths of the living room with all the equipment. I belong to a gym, but I find I work harder and more consistently when I do Cathe at home--and get way better results, too.

Okay ladies, it took me a while but they're up, finally. It's on the "workout space" page. I hope the photos load fast.

Pinky

hey Pinky: very organized! i like it! where did you get those puzzle mats? i almost didn't notice them b/c they look like wood floors! very cool. i want some!

Dallas ~

Just wondering if you use the (I think they're called Pro Bells) adjustable DBs for your Cathe workouts and if so, how do you like them? I'm considering getting the NordicTrak/Bowflex ones but I'm thinking having to set them in the rack and dial up or down might slow things down a bit (?). Any input?

Thanks!
