Shoulders hurt day or two after Kick, Punch, Crunch!

Cathe,

Hoping you might be able to tell me why, after doing your Kick Punch Crunch DVD, the day or two and sometimes third day after, my delts are killing me! I am not sure if it is a "good" pain or a bad pain. Seems to happen the days following any kick boxing/punching DVD.

Any ideas? I love the DVD and want to keep doing it, but it messes up my strength training, since I am too sore to train for a few days (at least any exercises that involve delt work).

Thanks,
Cass

Hi Cass! Kickboxing is a super upper body workout. Sore shoulders due to a tough kickboxing workout is not actually "interfering" with your shoulder workout....it IS a shoulder workout! I noticed that my arms got much more shoulder definition (and especially stronger when/if I hit the bag) when I started kickboxing one to two times per week.

I have experienced the soreness you are speaking of from time to time and when that happens I train legs the following day and if my delts are still sore by the third day I do biceps and core.

Regarding good pain/bad pain: If you aren't sure if its good pain or bad pain then make sure you are not locking out or hyperextending your joints while throwing your punches, causing uncomfortable soreness, tender joints, and an invitation to injury.

Hope this helps and take care.

Thanks, Cathe! That does help! I will check my form the next time I do the workout.

By the way, will you be coming out with any new DVD's that are just cardio oriented? I am one of those weird people that can't stand to combine her weights and aerobics! Odd, huh?

Not odd at all Cass! I enjoy solid cardio workouts too. I don't have exact timelines right now but I am planning a solid step workout in the future :)
