Should I switch my days?

Looking for an opinion ladies, and I know y'all have lots:p

I am starting the 3 month all STS (cardio and wts) rotation next Monday. This will be my 3rd trip thru STS, I did one 3 month, and one 6 month, both with my own cardio selections. Meso 1 is upper/upper/lower. The 1st time I did STS discs 3 and 9 gave me awful leg and booty DOMS, 6 and 12 not so much. The 2nd time I did it, 6 and 12 were the killers, and 3 and 9 not so much.

I have my 1st 10k race :eek: the morning (9am) after I am scheduled for disc 3, and it is a VERY hilly course. I thinking of the I-can't-walk-DOMS from the 1st go around with STS. If I can't walk, how can I run? But then I think the 2nd time wasn't so bad. Do you guys think I should move legs to Weds on the 1st week, just to allow time in case the major owies set in? Common sense tells me I should, but stubbornness tells me to keep it as is and deal with it. I think I have more than my fair share of the stubborn genes:p

Also, I'm thinking of skipping the light/rest day on the following Sunday to get cardio DVD in that I'm missing from Saturday. But I'm thinking that's stupid. I'll be getting plenty of cardio schlepping up and down those hills, and a break on Sunday would probably feel good.

Somebody smack some sense into me!

I always move legs if I have a race or ride coming up. Personally, I would move legs to Monday. I found that on my 3rd time through STS, I went heavier on Meso 1, by a bit in places, and that gave me some slight DOMS - I would not have wanted to run a 10K the next day! Even if you didn't get DOMS, your legs would not be fresh. By doing legs Monday, that gives them plenty of time to be ready, and you can do whatever light running you need to do throughout the week, leading up to the race. And do I read right - you want to do a cardio DVD b/c you think you will be missing cardio on the day of the race? Woman - no. That will be far and above a cardio DVD! Give your body a break. Do some yoga for running or something if you want to do something on Sunday. Personally, I would keep legs on Mondays but if you don't want to, during week 2, do legs on Wed and then on Friday for week 3. Now, good luck on the race!!!

I took your advice, and moved legs to Monday on the calendar. Then #1 on Weds, and #3 on Friday. Starting STS w/ legs on a Monday? EEK!!!! I did find the map for my run, too, and was plesantly surprised. The start is only about 2 miles from my house, and most of it goes thru streets I run all the time. There's maybe about a mile and half of it that is places I've never run before, and of that mile and half, maybe a half mile is hills I haven't run, but I know where they are and I know what they look like. The good news, is the big hills in it are ones I run on a regular basis, and the nastiest one is a downhill. So I am now extra extra extra excited. 10 days to go :eek: Thanks for the advice!

Nan- you won't be sorry! I just left legs on Mondays and found I really liked it like that anyway. All the best on the race :) I am in Houston -we have no hills! Sort of boring that way but then again, nice on some days.
